EXCLUSIVE PATRON ONLY LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ2yf0Qo24w

Hey Patrons,

I'm excited to announce a new patron-exclusive series (for $5 and up) we are going to be running a bunch in 2021. It's called "Noclip Edit Club" and it highlights a big chunk of the work that many of you have been asking for - dives into the editing process for our documentaries.

The videos are captured in 4k and my aim is that they'll be a mix of behind-the-scenes insights and editing tutorials that should be easy to follow along, and packed full of detail.

I have ideas for loads of these going forward including how I edit full docs, to how I finish off edits from the rest of the team, to thumbnail design and loads more.

Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas / suggestions / feedback on the edit itself stick them in the comments.

Oh, and welcome to the club ✂️

Danny

I love this idea! As someone who used to edit full time this will be a fun new feature for me. Cheers!

Nice, you should make that badge as a pin or a patch for the Noclip Store! 😉

I am so excited for this series! This was the original reason I added Patreon at the level I did, so am super excited to see it starting back up Danny! Made my day when I saw this!

ok, now an hour and a half later, after I have stayed up way to late watching this whole thing, rather than going to bed a third of the way through like I had planned......(if that doesn't tell you something, it should!)....I loved it. This is the driving reason I signed up at the higher tier originally, and have never dropped it back down. I am a very amature editor, having only cut together action type videos of some of my whitewater rafting trips, but I an enamored with the process of creating a great edit that conveys the emotion that you're aiming for with all of the subtle cues and the fades and rises of the music. I was sitting here at the end of this, while you're talking about the emotion of having family on the other side of the world, about how lucky I am to have all of my family here in the Denver area within 45 minutes by car, and then you jumped in with the fact that even those that are physically close to families are also lonely and cut off, and that got me right smack in the feels for sure. Good job there, Danny! Truer words have never been spoken.

As for length, I would sit here and watch you work for hours on end a day, so it's definitely not too long for me. Might be for others, I don't know, but literally if you livestreamed one of your editing sessions, and occasionally threw in some commentary about what you're thinking as you try various things, I'd be there watching for sure. But, I know I'm also a little strange that way.... :) Thank you for doing this Danny!

This was a real cosy treat, Danny. Real appreciated. There's just enough nitty-gritty, but focusing more on good editing principles and instincts.

Thanks for putting this together. Editing hiking videos is so much easier but would love to do some narrative work soon.
