Hello,

First part of hair dynamics is up. I recently updated to Cinema4D 2023.2.1 and I found a lot of bug fixes and improvements. These tutorials only work on this version onwards.

In part A I ll show you how to procedurally model feathers.

Let me know if any questions!

Cheers,
T.

Woah… this is one jam-packed little session with so much info and and tips procedural approaches. I’m amazed at all the solutions you find along the way to make it all work together. Especially love the connector tips. Looking forward to the follow up!

Hello, when I enable turbulence, my feathers will flicker and the previously created shape will change. I'm not sure if this is a bug or something else. It only returns to normal after I delete the feather connection.

motionpunk

unsure. I will upload project files soon. Probably ur connections never worked correct in the first place and u have particles overlapping

Awesome tutorial! really like the "procedurality" of whole setup! One question though is there a possibility of using something else instead of mt spline, don't have xparticles atm...haha Lots of love - Take care!

motionpunk

Thanks bud! Well supposedly everything should be done via a mospline (does the exact same thing as resample minus the smoothing part). But I have this specific talent/curse that all my setups are not fully working in c4d haha. I hope one day it becomes this fully working procedural tool :)

Thanks for the tutorial ! I've one question, I'm trying to clone the feather and have multiple ones "exploding" from the center towards the border of the screen. I can't figure out how to be able to clone it and animate it's position. It doesn't have to be dynamic, could fake it with some displacement but I can't connect the feater from its center if I transform into an editable object... any tips or idea ?

motionpunk

not sure, but this setup cannot be cloned via a cloner if i remember correctly. You need to put everything under a null and manually copy it around. Check project files i think i got a rig like this in one of them. If not i will upload. Let me know ! thanks

It would be really great in future tutorials to mention that we would need INSYDIUM and if not, how to use native cinema if not.

Unfortunately not everything is possible in all ways + a big part of my patreon is having xparticles available. They are handy for many tasks that c4d cannot
