This was a fun one, I say that a lot and mean it every time. But the reason this was enjoyable was because I was trying to step out of my comfort zone, color wise, and also lean heavily on the color wheel to make my choices.

Purple isn't a normal color I choose and neither is a bright, sandy toned base. I pulled aside a few color swatches after seeing some samples from movie scenes in a similar way. There are many more tones at play but it's fun to see a couple selected and pulled to the side. This model and images will be helpful in future classes as well.

The main action points on this compositions are very general. Light vs dark and warm vs. cold. Knowing purple was the focus color, all other colors were chosen from an equal distance on the color wheel. It's up to you how saturated you make them and there can certainly be a cold yellow if you prefer. But at it's core level I think it's plain to see those guide lines at play.

The model is very dark where it meets the bright a complementary base. Brighter still are the bolt gun and hair, pulling focus to the models expression. The robe being black/ochre yellow, is neutralized, allowing the feature colors to shine more vibrantly. I could have blacked out the gloves or interior of the robe, but it didn't feel quite detailed enough that way and those colors sat well with the others.

Hope you're finding some time to craft today!
