Seraph Armaros

The meaning behind Kirika and Shirabe's gears are based on some muddled interpretations of mythology, so I'll give the in-universe explanation. Shul Shagna and Igalima are the twin scimitars belonging to Zababa, patron deity of the ancient Sumerian city of Kish. Igalima's name carries the meaning "Green Blade" while Shul Shagana means "Red Blade". Since it was mentioned this episode, I'll give the background of Shenshoujing, the relic that FIS use to cloak their aircraft. Shenshoujing is an ancient Chinese bronze mirror. Although originally produced in China, it found its way to Japan during the Three Kingdoms era when Chinese Emperor Cao Rui sent Japanese Queen Himiko numerous presents, including one hundred bronze mirrors. One side of the relic is a polished mirror, while the other is adorned with various designs.

Ah, I guess their mythological inspiration ties in quite well with their colour scheme and quite an obscure reference at that. As for Shenshoujing, I may actually have to read into this one as I love history to do with the Three Kingdoms era (mostly because of Total War) and It's so interesting that you can learn tidbits of different mythos through the series! I love it and these posts! Thank you as always Seraph!
