Bit of a luckluster month this one I'm afraid, I don't think I added enough content to warrant an updated download. Didn't end up having as much time as I'd like and probably won't for another couple weeks which sucks.

On the bright side, I've been looking in to a bunch of new VSTs that I might want to use so I can really nail down the style I want for the music. The main one I'm looking at is Massive X, I want something that can create really deep and striking synth sounds to accompany the usual orchestral instruments. For those I'll like keep using the soundfonts I usually use since the good orchestral VSTs are often way too expensive for me and too focused for what I need. I've been looking at a bunch of drum samples as well, I feel like a good beat is something I struggle with most with music, I'm ok with percussive flares but that could use a more refined identity as well. I want something between dark atmospheric synth type stuff with orchestral instruments used mostly as accompaniment. Unfortunately I don't have anything to show right away since I'm still messing with demos, though I feel like I'm close to deciding and when I do I should at least sketch something out to nail down the atmosphere.

Other than that, not much was done. Mostly a couple of minor bug fixes and balance changes. I was also working on new backgrounds but they're aren't finished yet which is honestly the biggest reason I don't wanna publish an update yet lol.

Also I went ahead and renamed all the current planned characters to names I'm happy with, I figured I don't wanna get stunlocked on silly things like that so I'm not gonna think too hard about them. Most of them were fine as is but for the couple that weren't I feel their names better fit their character or role. So thus Flytrap became 'Toothy', it was obvious really.

NEW:

- Added polygon bullet pattern type.
- Added codenames to background in the BG Showcase test spell (in practice menu).
- Added achievements. (very basic and are not saved when closing the game)
CHANGE:
- Reworked Item: Plexian Helix is now a familiar that fires helix shots. (the old item is now 'Helix Shot')
- Bosses can no longer use a timeout spell for their first attack unless they're a midboss.
- Lasers are cleared immediately between spells and acts to prevent them from cheapshotting the player.
- Player shots now have increased size the higher their damage.
- Modified Item: Perserverance
   - Now grants life charge when collected in addition to at the end of each stage.
   - Cost reduced.
   - Now stackable up to 3.
FIXES:
- Fixed bosses skipping through multiple spells when timing out a non-timeout spell.
- Fixed BG Showcase test spell crashing on certain backgrounds. Please enjoy the backgrounds to their fullest in the Practice menu.
- Fixed noise shader in the Dollhouse background not being applied properly.
- Fixed one of the midbosses being skipped over.
- Removed asyncronous loading of textures before stages as it sometimes causes crashes.
