2019 Year-in-review & Favorite Game Poll (Patreon)
Content
Heya everyone! 2019 was a pretty fantastic year for me, so I'd love to go into some informatics with you all. It's fine if you don't have time to read it all, but if you can please vote below on what games of mine you've played and enjoyed I'd really appreciate it. You can vote for as many as you like. Also, if you could tell me which is your favorite and why that'd be helpful.
Release wise I have plenty coming up. Finishing Rainy DayZ's second Scenario, a full official release of Bitch Medicenter, something super neat for Anomaly Vault, and content for Tia, Lana, & Hentai University's new nurse. I don't have a schedule for releases yet, but I'd head into the discord if you'd like to help me test them once I need to prep for a release.
Today I'll be going into which of my games performed the best over 2019. Now, since some of them were before I made my patreon and some have been posted to multiple sites the numbers are so skewed as to be mostly unhelpful, but it's still pretty interesting to go into. A 2020 review will be much more standardized. Also, the comment numbers includes my own comments.
But before we do that, I'd like you to weigh in. Ultimately I care more about your opinions than view numbers, so I'd like to know which of my games you enjoy. Feel free to check as many boxes as you like. I've covered a wide range of fetishes, so if you dislike something because it contains something you aren't into, that's totally fine. If you disliked one for another reason though, I'd really love to hear about it here or in the discord.
Also, if you could list your overall favorite somewhere I'd really appreciate it. My schedule is pretty packed with upcoming content, but I'd like to do something special for the overall favorite of the bunch.
By the end of the week I should have a really good idea of what games are most popular with you guys. Just keep in mind I find HAA's sub and dom route so different that I consider them separate games.
Now, onto the game breakdown in a (very loose) popularity order!
Human Alteration App
Average Patreon views per release: N/A (Patreon won't show me back that far, but I was pretty unknown back then so maybe ~100)

My first game, the scope is so large and the code so spaghetti that every time I try an engine overhaul I need to stop in the middle as release deadlines build up. I'd probably need an entire month just to build everything I'd want for a ver 1.1
Still, I really love it. Bouncing back and forth between the sub and dom routes really helped to curb burnout, I still want to come back and improve upon it despite the size. I have enough material to double the number of scenes if I could just get everything working right. If I take another vacation this one is what I'll be working on.
The sub and dom routes are super different, and almost have completely separate fanbases. Towards the end of development I had planned to make games to appeal directly to what I thought would be a dom route audience and a sub route audience. Anomaly Vault and Human Alteration App were meant to appeal to the dom route fans, but none of the sub route-esque ideas I had ever panned out.
Fun fact: This game was posted to F95zone before I even knew the site existed. Stumbling onto that ongoing conversation was really exciting.

Wow, this one took off like a rocket. Cryptogreek is a fantastic writer, and the hugely positive reception around v2 felt like adrenaline to the heart for me development wise. Even now I'll get a lot of cool support that keeps me motivated even if the vanilla subject matter doesn't really push my buttons. I guess enthusiasm for my work js my real fetish.
After HAA I juggled a few things trying to decide what was the next big thing for me. This one is certainly in that spot now. Mod support wasn't something I ever expected to actually deliver on. When I started it felt like mod support was a ludicrously tough idea, but it ended up being surprisingly straightforwards loading and dumping js files on command.
Between the base game and the mod support, I've spent almost 2 months worth of coding on this game alone. Hopefully it shows, and a shoutout to stiggy 752 on f95zone for the game-changing css code.
By the way, the cheat code post is currently at 15k views. The most viewed post on my patreon by a wide margin. Also, the game is popular enough that it shows up in the google results for 'hentai university', fighting the steam game of the same name for the top spot.
Anomaly Vault
Average Patreon views per release: 2k (skewed as it doesn't have a separate cheat post yet like university does)

My first (and only at the moment) sponsored game. The slot actually got filled in only a few days after I opened the patreon. Because I started working on it right after finishing HAA I ended up going a lot farther above and beyond what I expected. The way the tier is set up it's supposed to be small 7-9 scene releases every month, but AV would often double that. It's fun to work on though, so I don't really regret it. I've battled with a lack of direction here a few times, but I've absolutely got a plan in mind now. Stay tuned for more on that, I think you'll all be excited to see what's in store.

I also posted this to reddit a few times, and it was also a part of human alteration app at one point, but I can't quantify those numbers.
Ah, Rainy DayZ. Working on this for December was really fun, but I think it might have performed poorly. I have to wonder, is it the gameplay loop that turns people away? Is it my writing? Is it just that the subject matter is too niche? On tfgames it performs the worst of my games on there, and here on patreon the numbers are... Not great. The numbers on every other site aren't too big of a deal, but you guys are the people I'm making games for (aside for my dementia-ridden future self).
I wish I knew what is holding the game back. The people who do like it are super vocal about their support at least. Maybe it'll flip when I can add some kind of quicksave system?
Rainy DayZ is also the only game (aside from princess quest) that doesn't appear on the front page when you google its name. Even Bitch Medicenter does. Curse you Ja Rule!
Fun fact: This game was posted to F95zone by someone else, I didn't think it'd have an audience there, but 52k views is nothing to scoff at IMO.
Bitch Medicenter
This one I haven't done a full release for yet, but it's still well performing despite that. With more polish I really think this could be a breakout hit like university. The setting and tone feel natural to work with and the gameplay loop is pretty fun (to me at least).
Initially I had planned for a triple triad-style hypnosis minigame. As time runs out on my vacation period, it seems more likely that I'll drop that and just use blocks as the game's sole mechanic. I dunno, honestly. I do hope for at least a few more cases before I do a big official release on tfgames and f95zone.
Princess Quest
This one doesn't have easily trackable view numbers. It's got 600 views on TFgames and no comments.
I like princess quest as a neat experiment. Using CG let me understand how I'd be doing it in university, the first ever comment on one of my games was about a bug caused by princess quest, and the raycast engine is probably the most complex mechanical thing I've coded up to now. That said, I think it's a bit of a mess. The tone is inconsistent and gets waaay dark near the end, and I for all purposes switch from a second person perspective to a third person one at the end. Not to mention how sloggy the gameplay can be.
Did you know this also used to be a part of Human Alteration App? The more you know. This game is the reason I initially shied away from online versions since the raycaster engine was very volatile. Eventually I performed the necessary incantations to get everything working. I don't think I'll come back to this one. I've exhausted the CG set and the artist Neromashin does doujins these days. Maybe I'll update the css and fix the perspective to a permanent third person one, but the game will probably just be siting pretty on my shelf forever.
Unless someone can put together the cgs for CrossinG KnighTMarE. Sequel 100% confirmed if someone can do that lego-esque BS for me.
Thank you to everyone here, especially to my patrons. Keeping up this pace with a job would be impossible, but the rate of growth every day gives me hope that I can do this forever. Please fill out the poll if you can, let me know what your favorite game has been, and please don't hold back any comments or criticisms you have. Every little bit of experience and insight helps me scratch a little bit farther through the surface of game design. For instance, would you rather I keep working on my bigger projects or should I branch out for smaller self contained games too? Every bit of your voice colors my work, so please don't hold back!
As a finale aside, thanks to Wild Bill for your regular comments on my work, SlackerSavior for your time and wonderful mods, CryptoGreek for helping when deadlines would get tough to manage, Errorgamer, Fuzzymonk, Death40466, Cute Garbage Can, and The Dreadful Manticore for being regular voices in the discord, Unit5421 for recommending HAA on reddit to this day, all the helpful voices on tfgames and f95zone, and everyone who's supported me, found a bug, commented on my work, or just enjoyed one of my games. You're all wonderful people.
