Nanowrimo 2021 Day 10 - Word Count and Favorite Bit (Patreon)

Today I added 1024 to "Seek the Oasis", bringing the total word count to 17,034!

Aysel shot him a thankful look. As he left, Kinri came to sit beside Aysel, gathering Sherlock and Jasmine into her arms with Duney. The merfolk watched him over her shoulder until he ducked back into the cave.

She turned to Aysel, whispering, “What do you think of him?”

Aysel felt taken aback by the question. She’d only just met Leonidas; how would she have any thoughts about him? “He’s… mysterious. I’ve never met a creature like him.”

“Neither have I,” Kinri agreed. She tapped her chin, thinking. “I think feel like I’ve heard stories about such creatures before, but I can’t remember.”

Aysel shook her head, settling herself on one of the large rocks that surrounded the cave’s entrance. The weight of the boys seemed to grow heavier as they cried themselves out. “It doesn’t matter. Whatever stories were told, I’m sure the truth is far more complicated.”
