Hey there, radical people!

Yes, this design is named entirely based on the fact that I printed it in a dazzling 80s throwback colour scheme.  All the elements of the texture food pyramid are represented here, from nourishing hexagons to delicious three-axis circular perforations.

This screw-top flask comes in both single- and multi-material versions, but the original design intention was to build a patchwork design in which sections were differentiated by texture alone.  It was a short leap from there to allowing it to be rendered in glorious contrasting primaries!

Print Description

This is a regular mode print and there's nothing tricky here!  The hexagon textures are aligned to provide nice angles and only minor bridging.

The multimaterial version is intended for systems like the Prusa MMU, Mosaic Palette or Bambu AMS, where the printer can handle multiple filaments at the same time.  If you're embarking on this I'm going to assume you know how to work with the files!

Print Dimensions

The main body occupies 87mm x 87mm on the print bed and is 117mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

This one should scale reasonably well up or down before the thread fit of the lid becomes a concern.  The tolerances are generous and the thread is quite coarse, and that'll allow for quite a bit of upsizing.

Print Orientation

The body prints right-way-up, like the multimaterial one demonstrates below.  Ignore the one sitting on its side, that's not what we want.

The lid prints in the same orientation, thread-down, like in the photo below.

Filaments in the  Photos

The single colour version is the wonderful Sunrise gradient from Cookiecad.

The 80s combo was comprised of old school no-name primary colour PLA that had been gathering dust on my shelves for years!

Further Thoughts

Textures never cease to inspire!

If you do embark on the multimaterial version bear in mind that obviously you can just use two colours rather than four.  Boy was that a long print... :D

Happy printing!

xoxo

Sven.
