Howdy, wonderful people!

That recent planetary-geared tablet stand works very nicely, but there's also something to be said for the other end of the complexity spectrum, so I set out to make some single-piece, stylish phone and tablet stands.

The result is a set of chunky slabs that bend into an (incomplete) triangle and feature big hexagonal imprints.  There are three sizes!  One intended for large tablets, one for phones, and another one in between for, well, big phones and small tablets.

Each has exactly the same lip at the bottom to hold the device (though the width of the lip obviously changes as the stand dimensions reduce!)

Print Description

These are regular-style prints, designed for straightforward printing!  No crazy angles or overhangs, and no holes requiring retraction.  These should not give you any trouble at all!

Print Dimensions

The large stand occupies 162mm x 134mm on the print bed and is 144mm tall.

The small stand is a mere 79mm x 55mm on the print bed and is 49mm tall.

The medium one is somewhere in the middle of those.

Supports needed?

No supports required!

Infill?

Infill is always an interesting question.  On this model, it probably doesn't matter very much at all what you use!  You might even be able to print this one without any infill at all, but I'd probably go with something moderate like 15%.  The more infill there is, though, the more substantial the stand will feel.

Scalability

These stands will scale just fine!  That said, there are already three sizes here...

Print Orientation

Each stand prints on its side, like so:

Further Thoughts

Before I focused on making this quick and robust to print I played around with a version of this concept that was full of small hexagonal holes!  That model still exists, and is in fact in an Experimental folder under the main #661 folder (though it really isn't all that experimental).  So, if you feel like printing even more tablet stands, it's right there waiting!

It looks like this:

Like the others, it prints on its side and it's a similar size to the large tablet stand.  It just has many more holes!

Happy printing!

Sven.

I have no need for another phone holder, but i'll print this in the next few days :) I may ask for a slight mod to it after it's done. All of the holders i have now angle the phone in such a way that it points the camera more up than out .. so when i do work zoom calls it looks at my chin more than my face. I'll see how this one does :)

How do you get to the model files? When I click the post link https://www.patreon.com/posts/31697592 it takes me to a vsae :(

I think from memory this sits the phone at about 60 degrees from vertical (though I guess the thickness of the phone will affect that slightly!). What kind of angle were you thinking?

Oh, in that post that has the vase you'll find a further link that'll take you to dropbox, and another link to join the discord if you're so inclined :) The fact that you're seeing the vase picture probably means you're in the right place!
