Hooks!  I do love hooks!  Such useful, practical things, and I've made quite a number over the years.  There are plenty of random printed hooks around my house, hung over the tops of things, screwed into things or zip-tied to poles.  Printed hooks are one of those things that can be really practical.

Actually attaching hooks to things isn't always simple, though, which is what inspired these designs.  These two big hooks have integrated print-in-place screw clamps to let them, well, clamp onto things.  There are two styles - horizontal and vertical, and they differ in terms of the orientation of the hook with respect to the clamp itself.  The horizontal one comes in two different clamp sizes, just because things like desks vary so much.  The larger one is probably the one to go with unless you're clamping it to something very thin.

Print Description

These are print-in-place multipart models, so make sure your bottom layer is nice and neat and that there aren't any print issues like stringing or overextrusion that might bind moving parts together!

Print Dimensions

The wider-clamp horizontal clamp hook occupies 83mm x 102mm on the print bed and is 28mm tall.

Supports needed?

No supports required!

Infill?

It's probably worth using a higher level of infill on this one just for strength!

Scalability

This one will scale a little, especially if you're careful with your slicing, but beyond a certain point scaling down will cause the parts to bind, and scaling up will eventually make things too loose!

Print Orientation

The hooks print on their side, like so:

Further Thoughts

Of course, screw threads are a powerful machine, so maybe be a little careful when doing these things up!  The failure point is probably going to be the side of the threads that's away from the hook, even though it's oriented for maximum strength and has added bracing!

Happy hook clamping! :)
