Hello again, my favourite people!

By popular demand, here we have a first take on a pill organiser!  Well, two takes, really, since we have two different sizes.  Now, pill organisers come in many different styles, but this is the classic one-compartment-per-day-for-a-week approach.

The main consideration here was to be able to easily isolate just one compartment and then turn the whole container upside-down to empty it, and doing that as a print-in-place design took me on some interesting twists and turns before ending up with this!

That ridged top ring is attached to the inside part of the compartment, so by turning it and holding the outer shell one can change which of the compartments is currently exposed.  I experimented with various kinds of closure mechanisms as well, and you'll notice that the large version has space for magnets, but I decided those weren't really necessary (except for coolness points, perhaps).  The nature of the turning ring means that the container shouldn't be nearly as prone to coming open as, say, a regular hinged lid.

Print Description

This is a regular print, but since it's an articulated model you'll want to make sure your bottom layer is nice and neat, and that you don't have any print issues like overextrusion or stringing that might bond together moving parts!

The moving parts are designed to allow for a little squishing of the bottom layers, however, so don't stress too much if you have a bit of elephant footing.

Print Dimensions

The large version occupies 132mm x 132mm on the bed and is 65mm tall

The small version occupies 68mm x 68mm on the bed and is 33mm tall

Supports needed?

No supports required!

Infill?

Infill percentage won't really matter too much - this is mostly perimeters!

Scalability

This one isn't intended to be scaled, but the tolerances are all 0.5mm and you might be able to scale it down a little if you're really careful about your print settings!

Print Orientation

The Flying Pill Saucers print right-way-up, like so:

Further Thoughts

It's always hard to draw a line with these kinds of designs - I can't help thinking it would be cool if they could somehow connect together in a big stack of saucers...

Happy printing!
