Content

Hey there, wonderful people!  Just a quick note to highlight some happenings!

More Stuff on Dropbox!

Dropbox has turned out to be fairly convenient so far for distributing content, which is probably why numerous people have asked if my free content on MyMiniFactory could be made available through the same means.  My answer was generally "sure... but that's a huge amount of work, and will have to wait!"

So, that's why I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Courtney of the Into the Dark, Finding the Light podcast for volunteering to organise all those files and get them into a neat structure for integration with the rest of the content that's already on Dropbox.  Thank you very much, Courtney!

You'll find that if you scroll past all the numbered directories there's now a whole new set of folders that start with "M" and then a number, followed by the name.  Inside that are the STL files and images.  Any errors are almost certainly my fault from moving files around - let me know on Discord or here if anything seems amiss!

It's been quite a nostalgia trip to look back on some of those designs!  Everything's in there, including odd things produced for contests, random parts for obscure machines, and lots of boxes and vases.  I haven't culled anything, even the designs I look back at with awkward embarrassment!

Earplug Box Reworked - and Multimaterial Friendly!

I use the original Earplug Box every day, and have long been annoyed at how small I made the hinge.  Yes, it made for a slightly smaller box, but at the expense of a less secure mechanism, especially when printed on a more precise machine.  So, it's been redone!

The overall shape is much the same, but the hinges are significantly larger and more secure.  Also, there's a multimaterial version!  It's the same overall model, but chopped up into multiple STLs for use in your favourite multimaterial system.

I do occasionally publish individual STLs for multi-part print-in-place models to facilitate multimaterial printing, but usually only when someone actually asks :)

You'll find this one on Dropbox under:  760 Earplug Box Reworked

Resupply Container Bolt Embiggening

Some people were finding that their printers were just too precise, and the bolts were slipping right out of their Resupply Containers!  There's now a set of thicker-threaded bolts alongside all the existing ones, so give those a try if your bolts are not as secure as they should be!

Torture Toaster v1.1 - Stronger Handle!

Ah, the toaster!  I'd like to think it's added a small amount of extra silliness to the world :)  However, it seems the handle is easy to break, so I've reworked the hinge area, reducing the size of the internal void where the hinge pin passes through, and adding a little bracing to the lever.  Hopefully that'll make things a little stronger!

Apart from a sneaky "v1.1" tucked away somewhere there's no outward change, and this revised version is certainly just as difficult to print as always :)

The new STL is currently sitting alongside the existing one on Dropbox, and is marked as a beta version for now until I finish a few more test prints.  Feel free to give it a try, though, and if you've had breakages with the old version please do let me know if this does or doesn't improve that aspect!

Thank you all!

I can't say enough how much I appreciate your amazing support.  I couldn't do half the things I do if not for this enthusiastic, positive group of people!  So, as always, thank you :)

xoxo

Sven.

Sweet! Sounds like some need to discover horizontal expansion though

Sven, I can't let you take the blame for what I may have missed, messed up, borked, or added incorrectly to the MMF directory files! If anyone catches anything that's wrong, let us know. The goal was to bring over all .STL files and images as a model for model match of the free to download Clockspring models on Mini Factory. Thanks to Sven for letting me pester him into doing the migration, it was lots of fun.

Thanks to the v1.1 beta toaster I was able to print at 35% scale with a 0.25 nozzle. It even toasts without breaking the handle :) With the older version I had trouble at 40%, because the handle broke when toasting :(
