No time for a new Life Drawing set this week, so I transferred over some very early Clip Studio Paint tests from the ol' iPad.

First off, a 2020 sketch set using the Rough Pencil brush, which was my early favorite among CSP's graphite-simulating tools:

Even with the ol' Apple Pencil, my drawing hand was still feeling some pain with that intensely rendered liftbro at upper left. While the rest of the results are pretty loose 'n' sketchy,  I have to admit that this is an approach I could stand to revisit nowadays on occasion.

TBH, the detailed, meticulous rendering I use on modern Life Drawing sets is of dubious relevance to my comics work going forward, given that I clearly need to pursue a looser, more spontaneous and (much) less time-consuming art style for future projects.

More Rough Pencil sketches, I can tell. Interesting that the "cartoony Betty" take looks oddly more like the original ref photo than the more "realistic" take at left; then again, not like I'm trained in capturing resemblances, nor am I terribly interested in doing so. Nonetheless, I'd still be interested in exploring caricature techniques, though more with an eye to easing the differentiation of future character designs than anything else.

NEXT UP THIS ON HERE PATREON: Tomorrow, 'tis time for the Exclusive Monthly Bonus Post for the $10 & $20 tiers, once again based on Patron art reqs from the Biggest Spenders. Stand by for OCs, Hushed Half-Elf, Slave Leia Emp and a Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves damsel!

UPDATE: In fact, the art requests will continue with Friday's post, which is slated to feature a truly unusual suggestion featuring an amusing variation on "my" Titans; unlike Thursday's post, though, this sucker will be open to the $3+ tiers, or possibly to all Patrons. Yay?
