[Here's a link to our previous installment in this series.]

Whilst desperately flailing around for a post on short notice, just realized that I've never shown anything from the whooooole bunch of Tomb Raider design sketches I cranked out for the sadly defunct videogame magazine PSM back  in 2003 or so. Much like the RPG-related article I contributed to a few  years earlier, this time around I worked up a bunch of design ideas for  a somewhat technologically upgraded version of Tomb Raider:

Next up, an even less visually exciting riff on possible Lara gear:

The next two images are my first few roughs for the main illo accompanying the article:

...and a variation on the previous shot that was even less successful:

Nonetheless, there is something interesting about the pose concept above, which I have to admit is arguably more compelling than the final rough—which you'll be seeing in our next Designs Ahoy installment three or so weeks from now. Yay?

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

I think you might have been ahead of the curve with the palmtop- today she would do all that stuff with a smartphone or satphone, and no reader would even raise an eyebrow.
