In a desperate bid for a recurring feature to fill up M/W/F slots on this here Patreon, here are (most of) the Work Stages on the final two pages of a 10-page story I wrote and drew as a backup feature for a 2016 Deadpool Annual; this includes fine coloring by my bud Ryan Kinnaird, a credit that I've unfortunately left off in our previous installments.

Given the opportunity, I decided to mix in the nigh-invulnerable mecha Gothic Lolita from my late, lamented 2004 miniseries Livewires, which means that she presumably was repaired after being burnt crispy at the end of the team's introductory story. Yay?

Alas, my ill-fated obsession with ink-based line quality wound up making this Deadpool short story vastly more difficult and time-consuming to produce than was strictly necessary. While the first page of the story was mostly in pencil, which Ryan adjusted in Photoshop to approximate inking, I wasn't satisfied with the line quality of the results, and switched over to mostly Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen-based inks for the rest of the story. The PITT's line quality looked better, true, but that type of inking took much longer than just tight pencils, and jacked up my drawing hand in the process. Oh, well.

I never did get around to processing the final PDF proofs for the lettered pages, but here's a correction jpeg I sent to the letterer re: a panel featuring the GothLol's POV:

...which was trying to approximate this image (in panel 4 below) of the mechas' comm network from the original Livewires miniseries:

Ehh, a mighty tough challenge for the time-pressed average letterer, to put it mildly.

Anyhoo, this was it for the Deadpool back-up story, folks. Not sure which old project I'll attempt to serialize in future Work Stages posts, TBH, but I do have a few options to choose from.

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Not sure exactly what content will be appearing on our next M/W/F slot at present, as I'm prepping this post weeks out from its "live date." Let's find out together, shall we?

UPDATE: Ehh, next up will likely be May's Exclusive Bonus Post for the Biggest Spenders of the $10 & $20 tiers, this time featuring Clip Studio Paint sketches based on $20-tier art requests; I might put that up on Tuesday as opposed to Wednesday.

When this comic came out, I didn't get the Babymetal reference. Since then, I have acquired a few of their albums. :)

The Babymetal comment killed me. XDXD
