DISTRESSED DAMSELS: A bedamseled ROSE added (with some difficulty) to earlier Connery sketch! (Patreon)
Content
Last week, I posted another Life Drawing image of Sean Connery from an especially striking James Bond photo of yore. Wellp, as a further Clip Studio Paint experiment intended to fill out another Distressed Damsels slot, I expanded the canvas a tacked on a new CSP layer attempting to add an image of a bedamseled Rose to the portrait.
Wellp, my first stab at this concept introduced a mostly decent Rose sketch, as I tried out a rather more (ahem) "realistic" approach to rendering her disheveled mop of red hair. Here's the finished result:
Alas, at first the scale on the Rose image in relation to the Connery Bond was visibly very far off, so I began trying to rotate her artwork to compensate. Here's the original version of the combo illo, with Bond and Rose separated:
Next up, a rotation one way:
...then the other:
Yes, folks, I blew an obnoxious amount of time trying to determine whether a lean forward or a lean back conveyed more "damsel energy."
Complicating the issue was the fact that I didn't want to lose the view of Rose's prominent rack whilst messing with relative scale between 'em. Here's a compromise version with a shorter Rose:
Ah, but then I looked up the actual heights involved! Connery was actually 6' 2" (per a quick and quite possibly inaccurate search), while canonically the original Kei was 5" 6" or so; note that she's supposed to be an inch taller than Y*ri/ Lily, but I never bothered to differentiate their heights in my take on Dirty Pair.
So, here's a more height-accurate mockup of the illo:
...which would, of course, feature a complete obscuring of our damsel's bounteous boobage that would be entirely unacceptable. (Oh, well.)
Anyway, before long I was heartily sick of this g-d illo, so I was quite happy to pull the plug on the piece and move on with my life. Ah, but you fine $5+ folks will eventually be seeing one last post on this Bond/ Rose riff down the road, as I did some quick sets of manikin-based sketches depicting how our struggling heroine wound up in this state. Yay?
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, as to what might be coming up in our next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?
