DISTRESSED DAMSELS: SF heroine Lily as imperiled (star)flight attendant, pt. 3! (Patreon)
Content
Cut 'n' paste time:
In the midst of the seemingly endless, Sisyphean nightmare of drawing a shockingly time-consuming Harley Quinn story last month (a task dragging on well into December), I managed to piece together some sketch sets of long-suffering Lily (from ongoing DP damsel spinoff dealie Rose & Lily) based loosely on this striking image I was sent a while back as part of an art request:
...and cue the distressing scenario, conveyed mainly through scribbled dialogue as I surely ain't drawing passenger starship interiors.
Wellp, a while back I posted some early, narratively random sketch sets based on this concept, followed by another post in the series. Now, here are a few more sets, jumping around hither and thither from one scene (or "scene," given the lack of backgrounds) to another.
First off, a new page that follows up on this earlier set of "restraint membrane" sketches:
...and the new page:
And then we skip ahead to another scene with yet another rogue flight attendant (or two, possibly, though I didn't clearly depict any others) victimizing poor Lily:
Had a specific request for this, ah, more thorough approach to "shushing properly" our distressed damsel, which I gotta admit I do find a tad icky. I rarely if ever bother with rigorous or realistic depictions of distress as A) I don't feel like spending the time replicating, say, complex shibari patterns and B) I get creeped out pretty easily by heavy-duty imagery in that vein. You're just gonna have to make do with what I can provide you, folks—which also applies to the female physiques I elect to draw, by the way.
Anyhoo, these sinister ladies are effectively rattling off the equivalent of Snidely-Whiplash-style "I have you now, my pretty" gloating, which I gotta admit is getting old; considered replacing the dialogue with some random techy angle, but never got around to doing so. (I do have another, older Lily sketch set kicking around that deals with some techy aspects of her DiD situation, but haven't posted it yet due a fairly dubious damsel image I'd need to rework.)
The next scene, at least, hinges on a fairly amusing riff, which IMHO beats feminized Snidely Whiplashing:
This particular fragment might actually continue, as we'll see that Lily's two latest captors have strongly divergent opinions on "T vs. A." Quite crass, obvsly, but more entertaining than the earlier villainess rambling.
Even had some initial roughs for this set (a rarity) kicking around, including a first pass on the Whiplashing dialogue:
Yes, folks, I still write out all my first-pass dialogue by hand, as Extra-Fine Sharpie scribblin' on scrap paper. Not only do I always do this on Empowered, but the same low-tech approach applied to the recent Wolverine/ Man-Thing story for Marvel and the Harley Quinn story for DC.
And s'more roughs, sans dialogue this time:
And that's all for now, DiD fans; I may do s'more Flight Attendant Lily sets in the future, though, if I can think up a non-Whiplashing angle for the pages.
Speaking of "s'more," the Biggest Spenders of the $10 and $20 tier can expect to see one more dose of DiD imagery for their Exclusive Monthly Bonus Post at the end of December, featuring the rest of a fantasy-RPG-based commissioned comic of yore with an anomalously "flirty" and wholly consensual scenario:
Not only will you Biggest Spenders now see the complete story fragment, featuring a rare few pages of toplessness(!), but also a new Clip Studio Paint piece drawn the other day as a follow-up illo:
Huzzah, indeed!
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Besides the aforementioned Biggest Spenders post on either Thursday or Friday, I'm not yet sure what else we'll be seeing the rest of the week, but rest assured that I do plan to post every weekday to finish off the month and the year. Yay?
