VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: 2001 fantasy RPG edition! (Patreon)
Content
In a theme relevant to my development of a new comic pitch that merges older Patreon fantasy RPG(-ish) projects Party of Two and Hushed Half-Elf, here are a quartet of Vintage Con Sketches from 2000-2001 based on commissioners' FRPG characters.
Long-time Patrons—or deep divers into my archives, at least—might recognize the first image in the gallery above, as I'm fairly sure that I've posted this Ryan-Kinnaird-colored piece before:
...but I'm much more certain that I haven't posted the original B&W version of the sketch before, as I just now scanned it outta my ring binder of 2001-era con sketches. (Pardon the reduced quality, though, as the image was scanned from a photocopy of the original sketch).
Note how good a job Ryan did of getting rid of my shading on her face and body!
The rest of the pieces are pretty straightforward and speak for themselves, I think.
And now, back to my daily hour of humiliating myself on the ol' Cintiq, folks! I'm limiting myself to only a hour of practice per day with the PC version of Clip Studio Paint because, TBH, that's about as much discouragement and demoralization as I can tolerate on a daily basis.
I can draw fairly decently on the iPad version of CSP, but I'm taken aback by how mind-bogglingly different drawing—well, attempting to draw—on my expensive Cintiq is proving to be. Feels like a completely separate medium, in fact! Wellp, I'll keep grinding whilst telling myself that thousands of other artists have figured this s**t out, so I can probably do so too. (Well, probably.)
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Not sure, TBH again! I'm definitely doing more posts than just M/W/F to close out the month of May, so that's randomized things even more than usual.
