Following up on a Work Stages post from February detailing the development of the cover illo for 2012's one-shot Empowered: Hellbent or Heaven Sent by excellent Guest Artist and frequent collaborator Ryan Kinnaird and myself, here are some design sketches and early CG renders for the issue's characters. UPDATE: Tacked that cover illo onto the end of the gallery for your reference convenience.

The first two images are my initial designs for the one-shot's "cyberangels & cyberdevils," followed by Ryan's takes on the characters.  Next up are Ryan's CG renders for the key character Mechanismo, followed by an amusing oddity; that is, here's my drawing of the Superhomeys mecha from Empowered vol.1, in panel 3 below:

And here's another of my pages from later on in the book:

Anyhoo, I spotted some interesting files lurking in the folder for Hellbent or Heaven Sent (such as a flat-color take on the characters that looks shockingly neat), so expect to see another post or two related to this one-shot later on down the road, okay?

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: Not really sure, due to the semi-randomized "M/W/F+" posting schedule I'm using nowadays. Let's find out together, shall we?

UPDATE: Ehh, I'll definitely be updating and annotating my 2018 March Manga Madness brackets over the weekend. I'll also need to post s'more Distressed Damsels content shortly for the $5+ Patron tiers, but after a recent puzzling and, dare I say, distressing encounter with Patreon Trust & Safety that led to the deletion of several posts along these lines, I'm clearly gonna have to be wary and extra-cautious about future DiD material.
