Once again, I'm doubling up with these latest (well, latest to post) sets of life drawings from random photoref. First above is a shading-focused set from October 2017, along with a sketchier, somewhat more movement-oriented set from May 2017.

Note the ominous flare-up of drawing-hand pain in the October set, which would eventually bring an end to any sustained attempt at daily life drawing. I do hope to resume life drawing on a less ambitious, much more sporadic basis once Empowered vol. 12 is finished, but that will have to be done in digital media, which has (so far) seemed notably less stressful on my drawing hand.

Note also that we've (rather a while ago) crossed an important threshold with these posts—both sketch sets are dated from 2017, meaning that the end of my once-formidable buffer of life drawings is in sight, if still rather a long ways off, as I cranked out life drawings almost daily through that year. So, folks, I might need to switch to single-set posts at some point later on in 2022. Gasp!

Below, enjoy the higher-res, raw and untweaked grayscale scans as PSD attachments.

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON:  Well, I'm rolling with a full Patreon workweek of daily posts to finish off the month, but I'm not currently sure exactly what will be going up tomorrow, to be perfectly frank. Let's find out together, shall we?

Spare the hand if needed. The life drawings are interesting to see the development of poses and such we see pop up in the final comics, but not worth actual pain.

these are always so inspiring...time to sharpen my 5B pencil and get to work!

I've heard bowling gloves or similar wrist support can help when holding a pen/pencil/brush.
