Recently unearthed these Dirty Pair character design sheets for Kei, which date back to 1998 or so, around the time of the Start the Violence story originally serialized in Dark Horse Presents. (That final, full-body design sheet featuring both Kei & Y**i's been kicking around for a while, though.)

The notes on the designs seem to suggest that they're for another artist's reference, which might mean that they were part of one of my many, many failed attempts to get someone beside myself approved to draw Dirty Pair (based off my scripting). These designs were also likely used as reference for the DP statue commissioned by Dark Horse, but I'm fairly sure that wasn't the original intention.

Stand by for the Y**i design sheets on Thursday, folks! (Note that I whimsically censored her name to avoid autoflagging by Patreon.)

Have you ever drawn the Puma sisters because I realize now that's my next damn commission idea!

Looking at the hair notes on page 3 reminds me of Kei from "Dirty Pair Flash", which...[checks Google]...came out in 1995. Were these designs inspired by those or is the spikiness of Kei's bangs just due to that style being popular in anime?

The DP were such an art inspiration to me back in the day. I even started doing my drawings on the linen texture paper lol

You get flagged if you use the other character's name? Wow. So many notes. I'm a complete slop artist compared to you.

Yeah, Patreon apparently throws up a "make sure not to post any lewd stuff about minors OR ELSE" warning because of the alternate meaning of Yuri(Us commenters can say Yuri as many times as we please AFIAK;she probably isn't Hastur) (also the uhh "technical term" is unrelated to the character; there are references predating even the light novels by years and the character is named after an actual person IIRC; I think she's Mr. Takachiho's sister-in-law these days) and some slightly squirrely logic. I'm assuming this is Kei's fault somehow; making Yuri's name into a swear word seems in line with her sense of humor.

Neither, really, as Dandelion Kei predates FLASH by a fair bit, and was something I worked up on my own during a bunch of DiD commissions.
