Seriously please don't be a dick head sub elitist

If you haven't watched Fairy Tail don't vote, if you have give your honest opinion. Bonus points for reasons in the comments

I prefer sub with everything but in fairy tail the blue cat sounds so bad with dub

Zona

I’m fine with whatever but I initaillat watched it Dub as one of my first anime and it’s pretty solid voice acting

Esteban Garcia maldonado

Bro honestly the screams and everything sounds way more hyped in English come on plzzzz

Joel Carmona

Watch it how ever you want it at some point your gunna have to switch it to sun later on

ContacT

I like sub more, mainly bc i dont understand very well what the dub says sometimes

officialknight

Dub is kinda corny for Fairy Tail in my opinion, and Natsu kinda screams his attacks A LOT so it gets annoying lol

Zackary De Schon

I watched fairy tail in both dub and sub and honestly the dub is not bad for fairy tail but I think the sub voices fit much better for most characters and help to show their emotions

Anonymous

ive watched both and enjoyed both, so doesn’t rly matter

Anonymous

I prefer Sub and happy sounds odd in Dub imo

Jeremy Brooks

I think the FT sub is really good and the dub is kinda just fine/serviceable at best.

Anonymous

The dub sounds so much more passionate in the dub if anyone is just voting sub because they havent seen the dub watch it first

Grant

Fairy tail has a good dub IMO. Not saying it’s better than the sub tho. Only reason I voted for dub was because it would just be a nice change up to have a dub show every now and again! Appreciate the content as always!

Anonymous

I voted for dub because I think Fairy Tail has one of the more solid dubs of the bigger animes, and it can definitely get you as hyped as sub if you are open to dub.

Ryan King

I watched it in sub and genuinely enjoyed all the VAs. Haven’t seen any of the dub (even in clips) so it could still be good

Anonymous

Dub isn't bad I watched full Sub but from what I know both do nicely and its easier to catch action with the dub.

James Nagy

Personally for me who usually I only watch in sub. I think Fairy tail is pretty even in terms of sub and dub. So its kind of whichever you feel like. After I tested out the dub and didn't hate it i watched it in dub as far as i could so i could watch it while working or doing other things.

LANA Dashie?

I haven’t watched it yet so I’m excited to follow it with you, but I hear people say sub is much better

Brian Guerra

Fairy tail in dub is better in my opinion it’s so funny and so much more emotion

NickYates

Sub voices are so much more badass

Ausjin H

Considering that you're also watching one piece, you won't be able to help but compare the standard from it to fairy tail. FT is a bit more streamlined, and the fan service kind of goes high later in the series. It's alright and middle of the road but a good time waste of you need it

Jonathan V

Both Dub and Sub r good. The voice actors for both r top notch. But I like Dub cuz I don’t like reading.

Anonymous

I picked dub if only for the fact that I think Happy's VA makes him sound cuter, sorry not sorry

KieMarie134

I absolutely have a soft spot for the dub — Todd Haberkorn, Cherami Leigh, Colleen Clinkenbeard, and Newton Pittman do a fantastic job as our leads and are honestly so nostalgic for me — BUT there’s just something about the sub that I can’t get over. The seiyuus do such an amazing job with every character — I cannot wait for you to start this journey!! xx

SonicKing2004

I never watched the sub version, but I did get through a couple of seasons of it in dub and I found it solid. Personally I suggest going with what your gut tells you.

BBNova

The dub for fairy tail is pretty good but I find that in the sub the really emotional scenes feel alot more realistic, so my vote is for sub.

Kanious

Sub. Americans aren't that good in doing anime dubs at all. The dub for FT is ok (and good compared to other animes that were dubbed in english), but it doesn't compare with the original.

Kay M

I first watched the show in dub and switched to sub later on and I have to say the sub kinda fits the characters a bit more than the dub in my opinion. The dub is very good compared to others and I really liked it but for me personally the sub is a little better

pitchy

Idk, I think the only reason to ever go dub over sub would be if the sub is horrendously bad, like, 2005 YouTube fansubs bad. Otherwise I'd always go for sub. Can't give a better reason than personal preference though. Don't like Happy's english voice at all tho, holy damn. you do you

Anonymous

I watched the first 20 episode in dub then switched too sub because of platform issues. They are both good from what I remember. Tho personally I think the sub is better.

Dawn Futrell

Fairy is truly amazing it’s fun to watch in Dub but sounds better in sub

Anonymous

Honestly the sub and the dub are both great! The voice actors casted in the dub are amazing so I really wouldn't be mad if you chose that. But overall, I prefer the sub because I think the yelling is better LMAO

Brian Guerra

With the dub you’ll also be more invested because you can understand what they’re saying and hear the emotion in there voice rather than read it but ultimately it’s your personal choice and what ever you choose I’ll watch your reactions no matter what

Anonymous

Personally sub, although both are good i just resonate better with the Japanese voices specially during battles

Wat3rF0xKail

Watched both dub and sub. Not the all of dub and all of sub. Just all of dub they had to a point years ago then the rest in sub and continued sub. So I'm ok with either

Daniel_KBN1

I've seen the dub and honestly that's what made me drop fairy tail unfortunately I just didn't like it and how i was back than a dub only person because i couldn't read but now i unlocked my sharingan my observation haki and i can just read with 1 eye and watch with the other so i choose sub

J Syc

I've watch both the dub and sub. I'm fine with whatever. Dub for this anime is pretty good and captures the emotions. I still tremendously Cana yelling out "F**** G******". Pretty good stuff.

Josh Lomax

Fairy Tails one of the few anime I've come across where I label the Dub as pretty damn good, but sub is still better in my opinion. The only thing Dubs got on sub is I hate how the subtitles show the attack names for Natsu's moves. For example, in the first ep you already watched, Natsu used an attack that was subbed as "Roar of the Fire Dragon", while the Dub says "Fire Dragon's Roar" and that has a much better sound to it imo, though I'd be fine no matter how the vote turns out.

MickFoley299

I vote dub. My main reason is because most everybody that reacts to it always go with the sub. I think that going with the dub will give some variety. I also find the dub to be pretty good.

Anonymous

I watched both and absoultly ypu can't watch the anime dub! the sub is 100% much much better

Josh Lomax

You just gave me horrible flashbacks of those 2005 fansubs *shudder*

- Bushido

Never gave dub a chance but I am Sub guy nonetheless so yeah sub for me

katabug0303

FairyTail’s dub is actually pretty good. Yeah I normally prefer dubs as I don’t like having words splashed over the picture often. But compared to some other dubs I’ve listened to, FairyTail is solid. (I have heard the sub in clips. I personally think the dub voice actors fit better at certain moments. And I’ve heard Happy’s voice so often I’ve gotten used to it. It’s not as annoying compared to other voices I’ve heard lmao.)

Anonymous

It’s personal preference, but the dub for Fairy Tail is pretty good. I recommend giving it a shot.

Daniel V

voted sub.Watching any dub feels so weird in anime.I guess i just love to listen to the japanese language.

Mellowkin

I've always found that being born in a country where everything is Dubbed all the time and having moved later in life gave me an appreciation for hearing the actual original voice actors doing their job, aside from that I enjoy the expression and mannerisms that are characteristic to voicing lines where actors didn't have to stretch or enunciate differently just fit the animation

Kevin Schomaker

I had literally no reason to switch from sub to dub, so I never did. But while I voted for sub, I'd be fine with either one.

Dante

Fairy tail has an AMAZING dub. I wouldn’t be upset at all if you watched dub but I still just generally enjoy sub more since it feels more authentic.

Trevor Rayburn

Fairy tale has an absolutely beautiful dub voice acting crew. I just watched in sub.

Brian Guerra

Well I see a lot of everyone’s arguments and I think you should start off in dub and if you don’t like you can switched to sub it’s your choice and your journey we’re just here for the ride you should watch whatever you enjoy most, but giving both a try would be a good idea

Anonymous

i prefer sub for Fairy Tail because the sub voices fit the characters better and it feels more natural. The dub is not bad but sometimes their voices just don´t fit in my opinion

Nicholas Vancil

I only watched it in dub, but as far as dabs go it's not bad

AsterJ

The blue cat... So you haven't watched it but voted?

Anonymous

I've watched it in both subbed and dubbed, both are good but for fairy tail I prefer the dub version just a little more

Blitzos

Nothing personal against the English Voice Actors but Japanese sounds much more better for this Anime

Garp the Fist

I prefer the sub because I feel it captures the tone and intention of what's being said. Sometimes the dubs can feel overly dramatic to me. It's purely a personal preference. Edit: if it's easier for you to watch the dub for a reaction, take my sub vote as a dub. As you've said before Ruff, we're watching for your reaction, not as a way to watch and enjoy the anime.

Cowfriend

the dub and sub are both really good but sub is prob better natsus va in dub is really good same with lucys then other characters are up and downs some fit characters well and some dont

AsterJ

So as even as the opinions seem in the comments, the Sub elitists have clearly just clicked the button and left.. I'll just say this. They are BOTH great. I've watched them in both. Just try them for yourself. I would personally recommend watching back episode 2 dubbed (as you get to hear a ton of characters) and deciding from there. I doubt people will be unwilling to watch your reactions whichever one you choose. I personally think it'd be better to do a poll like this on YouTube btw, you'd need a much bigger sample size

Allram

I have watched the show in sub, and the voices are great. I will vote sub, but you should do what you wanna do.

Snowberry

I have watched it in both and well they both are pretty good. For me i prefer the sub then dub. But the dub is also good.

AsterJ

I DO like that the comments are respectful to both iterations. And the number of people voting subbed and still praising the dub should be an indication to just how good both really are.

RedAlphaWolf808

damn i was hoping for dub so i didn't have to read because i suck at it and it gets tiring after awhile but still will watch the reactions though love fairy tail either way :)

Kazuma Kiryu

Yeah, before I read the whole post, I was thinking I haven't seen it, so I can't vote. I am not interested in it, but I have nothing against people who like it. I hope you enjoy it regardless Ruff.

samuel m patterson

i mean both are good. I hated natsu's english voice at first but now i can't hear any other one in my head. Todd H. owned that role

VGM02

I haven’t watched a ton in dub so take what I think with a grain of salt, but there were translations I’ve seen in the dub that just seemed weird to me? I’ve heard the dub is really good though! It might have just been me. Since I’ve watched all of Fairy Tail in sub, when I tried to re watch in dub it just seemed like some of the characterization and stuff was different because of the way it was translated.

Anonymous

Watched it in SUB and I think it’s better than DUB cause I rewatched some episodes in DUB (it feels pale in comparison to SUB)

Ignacio Sanchez

Just watch whatever u like honestly

Taiyo Devil

I personally loved the sub, however, I've seen episodes of the dub and I think it's good as well. I will recommend the sub as it is what I personally preferred over the many years I watched however, I think either sub or dub are great!

Nathan Grenawalt

The main reason to like the dub is that one of the most talkative characters in the show is arguably better in the dub. Overall, the sub is slightly better and has better translations. But like other people have said, it won't hurt your enjoyment much either way. If you don't want to have to bother reading subtitles, Fairy Tail is a good easy-going show to watch in dub while shooting the breeze with your chat.

Bob Lancaster

I think sub conveys the emotion really well in high stake scenes

Morgan Hellström

Well since it doesnt really matters sub/dub. I pick dub because I can just listen while doing other shit the same time

Imaginebreaker7

While the dub is great one or two characters are better subbed. So while sub is better it is by such a small difference I would say it doesn't even matter.

Sarah Trow

Fairy Tail is one of the few anime where the dub doesn't totally suck so if you are ever gonna do a dub reaction....do it with Fairy Tail.

striker 15

Me personally I think the comedy moments hit harder in dub

Thomas Stark

I enjoy both for fairy tail. Do whatever you prefer. Just give us more fairy tail.

Peacefinder Simply

One of the best dubs I've watched, and you rarely do dub so why not mix it up? That's my logic with it. 90% of the time I like sub better, but this show I like them about the same.

Peacefinder Simply

I have a feeling the votes are still skewed with sub elitists not even watching or watched fairy tail or it's dub

Rhye Stripes

imo the sub is better, i loved fairy tail but to me happys og voice is just too unique

Anonymous

I think it's best if you watch episode 3/4 in dub and choose which one you enjoy more yourself. I personally don't care like most other people would agree it's your decision.

Christian Jann

Really hope for sub-reactions. I absolutley hate english dubs in anime, don't know why. Probably i just love the japanese voice actors too much. Would love to have another series besides Slime and One Piece i would follow on this channel and watch again with you. I will never watch reactions in english, of course your choice, i just can't get on terms with the dubs. Even with german dubs and i come from germany. :/ (And they arent that bad, except the censorship) Now i just hope the reactions come in sub. Otherwise i just stay with Slime and One Piece. Thanks.

Giannis Kolovos

Since English isn't my first language as is for most of you, i prefer the sub version better, not having any problem with the dub version, i just like it better when it is in its original language

Death Knight

The sub also skews a lot of the more serious dialouge and really cheeses the whole "power of friendship" aspect a lot more in the dub v sub to where the dub can outright ruin some of the arc climaxes because of how its presented.

Death Knight

and i say this having watched it all in dub initially then watching sub

Christian Jann

Really? I searched for sub-reactions about a year ago. Most reactors watched the dub, same with Dragon Ball and Bleach. Maybe i'm just too stupid to find these good sub-reactions of Fairy Tail, but the few i found were reactors who were hard to sympathize with.

christopher briles

Im going to sound crazy but i really liked the voice actors in the dub for fairy tail.

Rav

Dub is not bad but sub is basically always better

Athena Lara

I liked the dub watched the whole thing in dub and it didn’t bother me one bit, I personally feel like most ppl just jump on the trend of hating dub when in reality only a few dubs are bad not all. Whatever you choose I’m still going to watch

Lazygeneration

I’ll prefer sub on all anime just because it feels right. Like that’s how it was intended to be watched. Very few exceptions being Pokémon and dragon ball because I grew up with watching them dubbed and those actually feel better dubbed for some reason lol

The Sigil Chronicles

I wouldn't be able to handle Fairy Tale in sub in all honesty

Chris Ronald

The dub has better wording and the dub actors are really good your not gonna be complaining about emotions, and Happy is an even more menace in dub.

Anonymous

Fairy tail is one of the few I think the dub would be alright, like steins gate, fma, code geass, death note etc, but it’s probably safer to go the sub route.

Eric Seitz

Personally I feel the main group is better in the dub but the villains and side characters are better subbed

troubled372

Voted sub I tried watching fairy tail dub for awhile it wasn't bad but not the best there are some characters who I think we're done perfectly in dub but just not most in my opinion

SonicMcCall

I sadly can see that It is going to be done in Sub but I'll give my 2 cents anyway as to why I prefer Dub. I grew up with Fairy Tail and started watching it since 2012 and I watched it in Dub. I feel as though Todd Haberkorn and Cherami Leigh are the perfect voices for Natsu and Lucy and I think David Wald (My favourite dub voice actor) is perfect for Gajeel. While I agree that sometimes the dub is a bit corny, I feel as though it adds to the charm. Personally, although most people say that Happy sounds off in Dub, I feel the opposite. I think he sounds too high pitched in Sub and I also feel as though that correlates to most of the other cast as well as to how I feel that they should sound. I also think that the emotions and range is better in the Dub and it truly creates some of the hypest and saddest moments I've seen in anime. I've watched it in both Sub and Dub and I've also read the manga so I at least have grounds for my opinion but hey, democracy is law so, I'll have to put up and shut up. I can still enjoy the reaction and perhaps get used to Sub voices. Still my top 3 favourite shows though. Thanks Ruff and anyone else that decided to read my TED talk xD

Hamza Jirrari

Is there one anime that his dub version is "clearly" better than sub ?

Preston Kane

The Fairy Tail Dub is definitely goofy as hell, but so is Fairy Tail. I think this is one of the few series where it just really adds a charm to hear the jokes in your native language from a cast you can understand and have fun with. And it would be a nice change of pace from the almost enter sub based catalogue of reactions.

Mardenzin

Im not a native english speaker, but I actually watched a little bit of Fairy Tail(around 40 or so episodes) in english dub. Honestly? Not a fan. I think this is one of those animes where the voices just dont fit for me in the english dub, and it makes the already goofy enough story become impossible to be taken seriously. Of course, thats only my opinion, might be the best dub for someone else.

Jesper Lundh

To me its just wierd to watch and anime in dub, I have tried with a few but i get more feeling when its in sub!

wonder777warrior

i feel the sub/ jap actors always express their emotions more better than the dub. ive watched more than enough dub to make that judgement. there are good dubs out there but subs will always be top tier in terms of quality acting.

Anonymous

It would be so hard to watch this show in SUB

DarthKiller454

There are so many messed up quotes that just sound wrong in dub. I have watched both. The Dub is not bad but VERY emotional moments really feel like they just scream in dub without any of the tears. Especially Lucy only sounds like she is shouting the shit while in the sub you can really hear her crying inmidst.

Steven

In my opinion, I would say sub, dub isnt terrible, but you get more emotions with sub imo. Its not my favorite anime ever, but it's really well done in some spots.

Adam Carlson

I always feel like the original VA's do better in their native language, portraying more of the raw emotion, but this series does have some absolutely great English VA's... eh, I went dub because this isn't a deep series that needs the additional emotional impact, but being able to easily understand the jokes that are rampant is a lot of fun.

Mogrol

From what I've seen, the dub is decent but the sub is so much more impactful, especially from the VA's performance and portrayal of emotion

Van Gese

i just like it better in SUB i also have hearing loss so i prefer to have to read the SUB so i dont get a headache from how loud it is.

Eric Keatts

As a person who has started with dubbed and switched to subbed, go with subbed, dubs has points, but overall the sub just hits harder when the emotions need to start

Amy Chang

i honestly prefer subs mostly because i really like Natsu's Jp Va (Kakihara Tetsuya), he seems like a cool guy :>

Chad evans

i would prefer dub but i know heaps of people would get mad and wouldn't watch so i don't really mind which one you choose

Charles Cantrell

Think I've only watched the first few episodes of it, though I do know that some of Team Four Star did voice work for the dub.

Karman Wilmot

I prefer dub but you can go for sub if you want😄.

Ken Yip

Imo FT is one of the few animes where i actually prefer dub. But a bunch of people say otherwise and im fine with that too

NZ Pyro and Blacksmith

This is one of those anime where I believe the dub really good. The dub voice actors match the caricatures very well.

Ghostnotes

imo it just sounds better with sub. Alwayss feel like characters screaming the names of moves they are doing gets terribly cringe in english.

iron pirate76

most of the coments are saying dub but people are voting for sub

AsterJ

That's because people mindlessly choose subbed over dubbed regardless of if it's clearly better dubbed or not. That's not the case here as they're quite even for Fairy Tail. I have a lot of respect for anyone who voted subbed and took the time to explain their reasoning as most of those who vote sub feel entitled enough to not have to explain why while dub fans are constantly grasping at straws.

AsterJ

That's only because, presumably, you don't speak fluent Japanese, otherwise you'd probably have a strong dissatisfaction with any shonen series.

Anonymous

I have watched fairytail in both sub and dub. As much as i like the dubbed voice actors i personally prefer the sub mainly because some of the translation differences are better in the sub version, but honestly either or would be great

Anonymous

As much as i like the sub a little better after reading some of the other comments i do agree that if you are going to watch a dub this is probably the show to do it

Anonymous

well i’ll be watching along by myself in sub, so it’d be cool to also watch ur reactions with the anime in dub. but then again i haven’t actually started it yet so this comment is kinda pointless

Anonymous

I think the sub has an overall better voice cast and certain translations in the dub definitely feel a little clunky.

Otakumom

I watched it in both sub and dub. While I prefer sub over dub on most series, FT is amazing in dub especially because there are a lot things to follow plus the English VA were amazing

Jessika Junni

Well I watched it subbed so that's why I chose that. I've also seen a few scenes dubbed and I just think sub is better but that's my opinion.

Tadas Rimkus-Masaitis

subs, i am yet to see any dub that would represent the character at least on par with the original voice acting, Fairy Tail is the same

callum wetton

ruff why not watch 1 episode dub and 1 sub and see which you prefer

Waywatcher Fireson

Happy's voice is the main reason the Sub is infinitely superior to the Dub. And tbh, Ling Yao's VA was not a good fit for Natsu, imo. Plus, I don't think the feels will land in the Dub.

F Chopper

some of the tear jerking just doesnt hit when the translate it the voice acting is pretty great for the most part in english but with the japanese eg you start thinking are these real people wait there just 2d

James Merlaut

I would watch Dub over Sub any day of the week; I watched it in both technically since I caught up on the dub before I caught up with the series, so I had to watch the last 100 episodes in sub. And yeah, I much prefer the Dub; Todd Haberkorn and Colleen Clinkenbeard were perfect castings for Natsu and Erza, their personalities are truly reflected in the voices. And that's not mentioning the sleugh of other English VA's in the series; they literally sat down and were like, "Give me a list of the top 50 English Voice Actors... okay... we're casting all of them in this series". Plus I like it when you can genuinely watch a series in Dub and stick it to the elitists; the only downside to the Dub is Happy.
