Are you gonna watch the strong world movie in a stream or record it normal. I get why the streams can be fun. But you always miss a bunch cause your chatting with your people. Not complaining at all. It's your channel and you have every right to do it however you want I'm just a little worried cause strong world is my favorite movie and I'd love to see you really get into it.

he turns off chat during reactions now, he did it for all of Jujustu Kaisen so far and sounds like thats the plan forward. I agree, i never watched his streams after a couple movies because he missed countless things that would improved his watch through and it just frustrated me because of it.

Alexander Zhuravlev

Yeah, I was anticipating his reaction to it for a long time, but now I'm not even sure if I want to watch it, it's probably going to be frustrating. Especially with people lying about the movie not being canon (Oda wrote and storyboarded the whole thing).

Peacefinder Simply

it should be fine now, i get why your upset, i hated watching his other reactions on streams. Extremely frustrating watching someone waste their time on a series not getting the most out of it.

@Alexander Zhuravlev: The movie isn't canon only episode 0/chapter 0 is. Oda writing it doesn't mean anything in this case – it is more of an "What if" scenario. As with most of the movies you can try to place it into the series timeline and you will fail inevitable.

@Alexander Zhuravlev As the guy above me said, Oda writing it doesn't make it canon to the story. It almost definitely guarantees a better story, but it never actually happened (and if you don't want to do the research, think about this. Is pre-time skip Luffy beating Shiki, who is canonically a Rocks pirate comparable to whitebeard kaido and big mom? No matter the luck or circumstances, it just isn't happening.) also here's a reddit thread proving why it isn't https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/9bkpdl/is_strong_world_canon_or_not/

Alexander Zhuravlev

I don't necessarily disagree, I guess what I think about "canon" has more to do with writing itself (as in it clearly is a well written story with an archetypical arc as opposed to random bullshit in other movies) and less with how it ties into the overall story. It is a standalone adventure that Oda made, and I don't like the idea of not paying full attention to it just because it doesn't tie in with the timeline perfectly.

@Alexander Zhuravlev "Canon" doesn't have anything to do with quality (canon content can be very bad) but with continuity in the main series. And most people I know would agree that Strong World is a really good movie regardless of its non-canon status because the expertise of Oda shows.

Alexander Zhuravlev

Sure, I think I worded it in a weird way, what I wanted to say is that I think about "canon" as it was written by him, the quality thing is a byproduct of that. I guess it would be more helpful for people to say who worked on the script instead of just saying that it's not canon, because upon hearing that most would arrive at the conclusion that it was a studio made movie that was written by some random guy, just like all others.

Alexander Zhuravlev

Sorry for the confusion. Also, I'm not saying that canon should be defined as my half of a brain thinks about it, I'm just describing that when I hear the word in the context of all other movies that had little to no involvement from the creator my mind immediately goes to the authenticity of the writing aspect of it. I suppose even other writers can write side stories that canonically would fit into original narrative, right? That's all anyway
