Evan

Ya know I’ve been waiting for this one xD

yo kel!

No, it doesnt affect my opinion

Anonymous

Wooooo~ let's go!

Anonymous

and that's what you call willpower

Michael Royal

little correction you said nefterpiou is just a normal ant born with nen, but thats not true, it said in the epsidoe shes the first to be born of the 3 royal guards that serve under the king. imagine it like, they are the managers at the company. the king is the CEO. and the rest all work for them.

Gabriel Ribeiro

As a non eglish speaker I just say kaito and koruto, kite is weird lol.

Gabriel Ribeiro

every english speaker says kite that at this point i'm already used to it though

yo kel!

To clarify, Pitou is one of the 3 royal guards that will serve the king once hes born. Also, gon would not have stood a chance against pitou. Just a couple episodes ago, he couldnt finish off a nen-less rammot (incapacitated by killuas thunderbolt) with his strongest attack (rock paper), and now rammot with nen is bowing and praising pitou. Pitou is hundreds of times stronger than squadron leaders. Now imagine how much stronger the king will be than her!

MadSwag

ooooo man

wonder777warrior

the squadron leaders are like district managers, and the royal guards are like executives, and the king is the chairman/ CEO

wonder777warrior

and yes i would smash ant-cat girl. no fucks given. full in.

Irawanov

Yes she’s powerful because she’s one of the queen royal guards

Anonymous

When they talk about Kite doing a 45 meter En and Nen masters being able to do 50, remember that Killua's grandfather back in the Yorknew arc said he could do 300 easy.

Isaac Park

one piece and hxh are both really good animes. They are both unique and good in their own way so I can't see how you can really compare them. For one piece, the world building and character development is godly while hxh has perfect story telling. Both are god tier for their own reasons

marcus diaz

subtitles- this is a royal guard. ruff- who is that?

Nadia Nako

Been waiting for your reaction of that last scene since you started HxH reactions!! Priceless :) HXH is in my top 3 animes along with OP and AOT just for the story telling! OP is the first in that top 3 though since the story is soooo long but still good! However, the sheer fact that HxH still compares to a great manga such as OP is a feat in itself IMO! Who knows, if Togashi was regularly drawing HxH it could have surpassed OP :)

Ragan Michelle

Fantastic reaction, episode 85 has one of my absolute favorite moments in the show; the "Gon, you are light" scene which is directly followed by Kite's brutal death reveal. The chimera ant arc is my favorite anime arc of all time; the pacing, the characters, the buildup, the payoff, the music, the writing, literally everything is just utterly perfect to me. The biggest complaint I have seen from others is the pacing of the chimera ant arc, which I just don't see at all. There is A LOT of buildup to get to the payoff at the end and many people think the first half of the arc drags. I think you are enjoying this arc exactly the way that Togashi intended!

Anonymous

Shit you know she wouldn’t have even dared to tried to pull some bullshit like that if our boy Tompa was there 😏

Paulius Juodsnukis

The pacing problem is perceived in a sense that a lot of things happen before the big showdown. And a lot of people dont perceive it as engaging or important. While that might be true, everything that happens is relevant to the story and the characters in that story. Thats why this show is so amazing, that it lets things playout more or less naturally, by the rules of the Togashis universe. There are no "convenient" things in this story.

Stew

The fact that Killua said the Chairman can't take down Pitou shows just how ignorant he is about Nen combat. Someone like Razor has a HUGE amount of Nen but it really is the unique techniques that come from Nen that make the difference in battle. The high tier Nen users we don't even really know their powers, especially a certain someone who refuses to show their Nen ability to anyone they aren't ready to kill.

Anonymous

I also think the pacing problem is because of how long the anime adaptation is, especially with the big showdown. Outside of the first 10 episodes, the remaining 51 have virtually no added content, and are only as long as they are due to numerous flashbacks, still images, and recaps. For comparison, Golden Wind is 3,121 pages long for the manga and 39 episodes for the anime. That's about 80 pages per episode. By comparison, the Chimera Ant arc is 2,232 pages long spread across 61 episodes, or about 36.6 pages per episode. That's way shorter for something that barely has any added content. If Chimera Ants followed Golden Wind's pacing, it would've only been 28 episodes long, less than half its current length.

Anonymous

I miss Leorio and Kurapika too, but at least pretty soon you'll get to meet the best character in the series. Besides maybe Killua, it's debatable. I vote the new character though.

Cody

First of the Royal Guard. Neferpitou. My favorite character. :D Happy Birthday!

Anonymous

Cat girl is also technically a cat guy (uses male pronouns and is referred to as he/him in the manga, plus the royal guards are male), so that should affect people's decision to be attracted to him.

Avishai Pinckney

No the fact that it's an ant and not a girl does not affect my opinion. However, the fact that it's an "it" and not a girl does lmao

Anonymous

Neferpitou (usually just called Pitou) is also one of my favorite characters. Top 10 for sure. So is Morel (guy with the sunglasses and big pipe).

Anonymous

"Will Goku be able to defeat Frieza once and for all? Find out next week on 'Freiza Defeated'!"

BennLimos

I think a nen user’s affinity to developing their En is tied to their ability. Nobunaga’s en is only a few meters but that’s because he only needs that much for his shodachi’s effective radius.

BennLimos

Now that you’ve seen episode 85, maybe you should react to other reactor’s reaction to the KitexPitou scene. My favorites are those of Kimchi and Tofu and also of Jaster-Sama.

Anonymous

Oh yeah Morel's awesome. He has kind of a lousy first impression cause he's shit-talking our boys but he's great later, promise.

Anonymous

The fact that you enjoyed these first ten episodes is good. It only gets better from here. 85 is when people say the arc first gets good.

Anonymous

Details about the pacing, since you asked for it: I'm a very impatient person, so I love the manga because I can read the whole thing in maybe less than a quarter the amount of time I could watch the anime. The anime is far from bad with its pacing though. It's slow, but not as slow as like Naruto or One Piece. It really lets the tension build I think. So I do prefer the quick pacing of the manga, and I do understand why people don't like the pacing of this arc (especially the last 1/3), but I still greatly enjoy it. But I will say that if this series was adapted the same was Jojo was (very fast-paced), this arc would've only been less than 30 episodes instead of 61.

Avishai Pinckney

The reason why people have a problem with the Chimera ant arc pacing is because they can't take tension. They confuse pacing with racing. But good story telling is the difference between makin loove and fuckin. You can't just go hammer anvil for two and a half minutes and bust and go to sleep. It's a fine balance between hype and suspense. That's what it means to be a good lover/storyteller. edit: For me what makes hunter a masterpiece is 5 reasons(in no particular order): 1: Character development 2: Acting (animation & voice acting(sub)) 3: the world building is an extremely nuanced 'conceit' and mirror of the real world; which I believe is the actual purpose of art. 4: incredibly natural dialogue writing 5: the generosity and ambition is biblical in scope. I know that doesn't help. But I swear I could write an essay on each of those 5 points. Hope you are doing well after Uri. I'm a former Austinite, in Houston now and it's been a shitshow.

Anonymous

(Neferpitou) is a royal guard of one of three royal guards of the king not a simple chimera ant so she is so strong even much stronger than kite

Waavlu

Neferpitou is probably my favorite ant period and when I watched this years ago, my problem was the pacing and while other applaud the characters growth in the arc, it just felt tedious and not realistic to me, which pulls me out of the story. Who knows maybe my mind will change with time but if not, oh well. I will still watch it with you all

Anonymous

The ants awakening nen after getting "smacked" is because it's similar to what Wing did with Gon and Kilua during the heavens arena arc. It's better to awaken your nen slowly and naturally, but it's possible to "Shock" your body into awakening. This is basically similar principle, that the extreme exposure to nen from a nen-attack, is forcing the ants "nen-receptors" to open, awakening their nen

Anonymous

and now I just realized they explained it later in your reaction. haha. Well, the parallel to Wing might still be helpful

Alan moreno

I agree with you about not understanding people’s complains about the pacing in this arc. I always believed the Arc starts off strong, then slows down a little after kites death for exposition purposes, then picks up again around episode 94, then slows down again around episode 119, then Picks up again for the finals episodes with some bangers along the way lol

Alan moreno

I feel most people new to HxH havent grasped the power level of Gon & Killua. Gon and killua are prodigies, but they are still only children living in a world along side other “prodigies”. Even though they are way stronger than normal nen users, they are still scrubs compared to top veteran hunters (Hisoka, kurapika, bisky, illumi, troupe members, etc) at this point in time

Anonymous

That’s what I never get either with the pacing complains, on first watch it keeps you engaged in the story throughout every episode

Anonymous

I love this massage of how realistic this show tries to be even thought gon's believes kite is alive it doesn't mean he actually is. Just because we believe in something it doesn't mean is actually true

LANA Dashie?

I don’t want to have to be the one to tell ruff that Pitou is a dude

Flamo

Pacing is an issue in anime for people who read manga because many people are relatively fast reader. Not me. Basically you are going to have pacing issues with most anime. It will either be too slow or too fast. In my opinion it being too fast is a bigger issue because they start to skip important information.

Nattis_O

This is why hunter x hunter is so fun to see reactions to. Everyone is in the beginning. "Oh. This is like pokemon." Then later in the show, they are like. ".... No. No, it's not." X)

Nattis_O

Also, the paising isn't that bad in hunter x hunter. But the pacing problem with the camera arc hasn't started yet. It will start to drag a little later on. Not that I think it's as bad as some other shows but if you only do one or two episodes it can be very slow pace.

Evan

And yes, the Chimera Ant arc splits the communtiy in half, a good 60% says that it's amazing and that it's amazing (I'm one of them lol) and the rest says that they don't like it as much because of the pacing. So far the pacing has been great but from here onwards the pacing starts slowing down. From episode 75 to 85 the pacing is great but from episode 86 to 111 the pacing isn't as good. However, when you do get to episode 111, stuff starts **poppin' off** and it gets insane, it's not even comparable to anything you've seen so far from Hxh. However, since the pacing slows down a bit for about 26 episodes some people don't like it as much as other arcs like YorkNew. Personally i think that the arc is great and the pacing really doesn't bother me and since you love OP so much, I'm pretty sure the pacing getting a bit slower for about 26 episodes wont bother you as much as other people since there is still a lot of things going on during those episodes.

Lemonkatze

ppl say there is a pacing issue with this arc but honestly if it went any faster id be extremely confusing. while i do think there is a dip i wouldnt call it an issue

Lemonkatze

the pure shock on ur face at kite being dead in pitous lap is top tier

Anonymous

i think she's pretty strong

Anonymous

Have you watched Full Metall Alchemist Brotherhood

GedenWilbur

<3 Also "I think when Gon finds out that might be a catalyst", whatever would have given you that impression?

Anonymous

"HxH is a kid's show" me: Yeah, we're gonna see about that!

Imar Dros

the catgirl is unfortunately a catguy, but that doesn't stop some if you catch my drift. I would personally not fuck an ant

Anonymous

A thing to note: Right now Killua's self esteem is at an all time low, he hides it well and treats it like it's no big deal but when everyone talks about how great Gon is, how much Gon has positively affected others, what else is he supposed to think? Killua is an amazing and strong character but the problem is, compared to Gon, he's left in the shadows unnoticed. He expressed this more in the beginning but now it's more like he's made peace with the fact that he feels inferior to Gon. Kurapika and Leorio went to find Killua because Gon wanted them to. The Phantom Troupe wanted Gon to join (and Killua by association), Hisoka gave Gon incentive to fight him in Heavens Arena. Greed Island was made to train Gon. All of them show how much they want Gon and while they may express how skilled he is, it's always in their minds, they never say it out loud so as far as Killua is concerned, he's just an extension. So for him to do the opposite of what Gon said he would do (ie. stay with Kite no matter what) and leave Kite to die and then having Morel and Knov tell him he's not worthy of being a Hunter when he's still reeling from how weak he actually is and if he made the right decision - is just another kick while he's down.

Pitou (the cat) IS one of the royal guards. You didn't pay attention when they mentioned it. Just thought I needed to put that out there in case you haven't already figured it out.

Anonymous

I'm one of the people who complains about the pacing of the Chimeara ant arc but I can't go into details without spoiling things. Just keep watching and I think you'll see why some people have problems with the pacing

Anonymous

His face at the end of episode 85 lmfao

Anonymous

Rip kite💔

Millua

Pitou is not a "he". Pitou is genderless. Idk why some people told you that. If you don't know who to believe, a quick google search will confirm it.

Anonymous

Good reaction but you miss a lot of stuff while talking, they mentioned it clearly that she was the newly born royal guard twice but you didn't even read it whilst talking about catgirls and then wondering later if she is possibly a royal guard. Just for your sake it may be hard to understand the story if you miss so much by not paying attention

ruffsenpai

It’s impossible to not miss stuff when recording a reaction. My goal isn’t to catch everything my goal is to enjoy the series I’m reacting too while delivering a video that the majority of people like. Of course not everyone will like the way I do my videos. But I like them and I’m enjoying the show.

Willian Abreu Ferreira

Some people will always complain about pacing. In my opinion without this kind of development, it would never hit in the same way. Imagine if we met Kite and in the same episode he is smashed by Nefer, would that have the same impact? Tension, emotion and bounding have been built, to explode later in the climax, this is the exactly what ranks Quimera Arc that high for me. This is what hits me in one piece too, i.e. we have a bunch of development episodes in water seven in which I'm sure some people were "omg who cares about this and that" and later it pays off!

sam gosselin

best reaction love u ruff
