108 pound cannon and gum-gum cannon are two of their attacks that Zoro and Luffy have been using up til now. 300lb cannon was more of a joke as Luffy said to do double 108lbs but said 216lbs is too long in japanese. So he rounded up. The cannons are their flying attacks (Zorro called it the flying blade attack is Skypiea)

The 300 pound cannon is a wind attack like Zoro used in Sky island, but twice as strong as his strongest one, the 108 pound cannon. 216 is too hard to say though, so Luffy just made it 300. Also the pound cannon attacks have been translated different ways throughout the series, and it can be interpreted as caliber phoenix instead. Im not sure which one is official, but I think caliber makes more sense.

yeah alot of Zoro's attacks are puns in Japanese. The thing with the "Phoenix" attack is that the word for cannon and the word for phoenix in japanese each sound exactly the same but are written differently so they are kind of interchangeable when saying the words outloud. And the thing about the 216 being too hard to say is cuz in japanese the number 216 is pronounced "ni-hyaku-juu-roku" and 300 is "san-byaku". One is much shorter and easier to say than the other so Luffy was just saying he wanted the simpler one to say for the attack.

Unnecessary repetition of scenes, loads of unnecessary flashbacks and still moments, and an obscene amount of intro. This only gets worse to an otherwise great series, unfortunately. One Piece episodes, at times, have 15 minutes of real story-telling. They used to use more comedy relief before, and we wouldn't notice (and actually I like those a lot), but later on is just stretching scenes. I can think of cases in which this kind of stuff would really be necessary, but not as often as the show uses that sort of thing.

I will explain in detail. Zoro’s got slashing attacks from a while and Luffy’s is strong as hell. The name of the attack came from zoro’s Santoryuu but since it’s “times two” that’s why they rounded up in 300 (the other name was hard to say) Also, even if not the technique itself, its principle it’s how the giants made a hole in the giant gold fish in Little garden. The cars are as follows: Robin's car is #1, then CP9, then Nero, then Wanze from CP7. This is the arc where One Piece starts to go Dragon Ball Z on us. The "cannon" attacks are air pressure attacks, as others mentioned above. The Water 7/Enies Lobby arcs are easily the best, and Oda definitely hit his stride. When Robin saw blue flames, it wasn't her remembering the crew, it was her hallucinating. Hence why Merry suddenly was enveloped in fire. It saddens me that you were already spoiled about a particular character. =(

Exactly this. ^ It's unfortunate, but this is what happens when the series is catching up to the manga, and they need to find little ways here and there to pad out episodes and arcs in order to slow things down. It's why a lot of people gave up on One Piece and just watch the fan modded One Pace instead.

I always hear you wondering why there is so much recap and wasted time in the episode , it's the main reason why the anime never stopped since it release (1999) . If they put more manga material in the episode the anime will catchup the manga

Yesss 5 episodes :)))) I've been waiiiting for this one with Sogekiiing lol IMO This arc is one of the best in One Piece because that's when you feel that each strawhat member takes on its role especially Luffy as a captain and Zoro as the second in command :)

For the record "sogeki" is snipe in Japanese so "Sogeking" is a pun that means Sniper King. And when Franky revealed the centaur form there was a pun that doesnt really make sense in english. When he said "Convert" he said "hentai" which can either mean transform/convert or pervert depending on how it's written. It's a running joke that when he says "hentai" while transforming he means "Transform/Convert" but the people around him think he is saying "pervert" just cuz he looks like one while he's doing it 😅

Fun fact, Sogeking has the same voice actor as Usopp. Because of this, many people have created a theory about his real identity being Usopp

No spoilers explanation of when you got confused at the Franky "pervert" joke: Oda has amazing wordplay but its more often in Japanese than English. Pasting from Reddit since you can't easily look up any of this stuff yourself without fear of spoilers. :) hentai -> cyborg This is my favorite wordplay by Oda, because hen-tai has three possible meanings in Japanese: Hen(complete)+tai(squad)= formation. Hen(change)+tai(figure)=transformation. Hen(strange)+tai(attitude)=pervert. So anytime the word hentai is used without kanji (just the phonetic hiragana symbols instead), it leaves the meaning open to interpretation. This is normally fine based on context, but it means characters can humorously misunderstand.

That is probably one of my most hated running gags in the entire fanbase. I really feel like making that joke over and over again all the time which many people do actually takes away from Usopp's characterization and what Sogeking actually represents.

I’ll say at this point, One Piece has gotten more creative (like JoJo part 3). The combo attack from Luffy and Zoro could be compared to the attack from The two Giants from Little Garden, Dorry and Brogy. It’s not the same “power” but the force of the attack is comparable to it.

the order was the roman guy in car 4 then the new cp9 member in car 3 then cp9 in car 2 then robin in car 1 when they said it in the episode they said it was the newest cp9 member in car 3 then they jumped and said robin in car 1 then went back and said cp9 in car 2

Hmm, Franky and Vivi has same hair color. "Sogeki" means sniper in Japanese. Then added "ng" at the end. Weird how well Oda writes. I think Choppers Voice actor is back in 264.

The 300 pound Cannon is never explained again, but it is supposed to be zoro´s 108 pound phoenix distant attack that he learned on Skypea times 2, with the added force by luffy´s punches. It simulates the attack the giants made in little garden. it is called 300 just because luffy is luffy

Zoro used a 36 pound canon with one sword at Skypea, so if he uses 3 swords this makes 108 pound cannon + Luffy added his 108 pounds, but was too lazy to pronounce 216...

Zoro learned a projectile attack from Skypiea where he fight the guy with flashing pistols and Zoro finished him off with the move he called "36 Pound Cannon" it pretty much a wind slash that he develop since Whiskey Peak. Luffy used the move called "Gomu Gomu no Cannon" on one of the big franky family member when he enter Franky's house to revenge for Usopp and Luffy break a thick iron armor in the process. Both of them pretty much combine force to make something like an attack from Dual Giants on Little Garden where they made a hole through an Island size goldfish. It's a pretty nerd stuff you can stilll enjoy it without knowing all of this.

My favorite arc in order is Whole cake, Punk hazard, Wano and Dressrosa Whole cake is my number one favorite.
