The problem with the HxH fandom is that on the one side you have the chill people, and on the other side you have the people who go “HxH is the greatest anime of all time if you don’t like HxH you are bad and have terrible anime taste,” and that side is usually much more vocal to the point where they might constantly bombard and harass the reactors by constantly screaming about every detail they miss and continuously asking “When is the next HxH reaction?” every non-HxH video. But if you look past that very, very toxic part of the community, the HxH fandom is pretty nice.

Fandoms of Anime are such hypocrites, because they always forget what their reactions were when they started the Anime. I had a bunch of Dumbass reactions/theories in the beginning, EVERYONE DOES you just don't say them out loud and you brush it off because if it's a good Anime it will tell you if you're wrong or reiterate important information. As a reactor you have to speak out loud on what you are thinking to make it a good reaction, and because they are talking of course they will subconsciously forget stuff even if they read it. All of us always had to option to watch it again, rewind it, and really think about it because it's the only anime we are watching, every time I stop watching an Anime and I have watched other ones before going back to it, I have to rewatch the arc all over again so I don't miss stuff. God why do people speak without thinking and make watching certain Anime not fun. We are blessed that we get to watch Anime without people chewing our ears out. TL;DR: I am cheering you on and sorry for the people who speak without thinking. Reactors watching Anime is not the same as how all of the Fandomes binge-watch Anime quietly in a room without interruptions.

oh fyi about togashi (mangaka) i think many have told you so far but he takes long break due to health issues and he disappears for a long period of time like 2 years almost, comes back 10 chapters then disappears again

The flower petal stuff with Hisoka is weird censorship in the anime – the arms of his "opponent" are simply cut off in the original.

FYI Ruff 1 mile is 1.60934 kilometers. So 80 kilometers is about 50 miles. Puts it into perspective a bit. Note I suggest just thinking of a kilometer as 3/4 a mile or look it up on google when you hear it because it helps with understanding things better. Or wait and look in comments lol.

Hunter x Hunter, despite being my favourite anime of all time, has one of the slowest build ups i've seen in an amazing anime so I'd understand if you're a little confused going into this first arc. It's still a good-great arc but I'd say it offers like 1% of what the show truly has to offer. Just subbed to the $5 for the first time today btw :))) Killua's name is officially pronounced "kee-loo-ah" but most people are good with "kill-oo-uh"

Also, the anime does have a good ending. It's not a cliffhanger like some people like to make it out to be when they say "the show's never going to end". However, there's so many more possibilities for this show that are apparently being explored in the currently-on-hiatus manga. This is where I think the complaints come from. Relating to your comments on the fanbase, the HxH can be hella elitist a lot of the time btw. I feel like this stems with the fact it's often grouped with shows like Naruto and other shonen and that hits some insecure people in their feelings when their far-superior anime isn't appreciated to it's full extent, so they just assume you don't understand the show. I do agree HxH is the best battle shonen series, but the elitism isn't it.

It's good that you saw Naruto before this (the same way I did), since HxH is a subversion of the shounen genre. You'll appreciate the twists, and there will be unexpected moments to what you're familiar with in watching Naruto. The next episode is the worst in my opinion, but the ones following it will be the best of this first arc!

Yea dude. I wouldn't worry too much about the fanbase. Based on your experience with other reactions like you said, it wont bother you. The reason people are so vocal about it is because HxH never wastes a moment to spit out detail information. The moment you take your eyes off the screen, important information will be missed. But that doesn't mean you're expected to catch EVERYTHING on your first watch. Some fans will like to fill you in on info that was missed and some will give you sh*t for it (which is absurd). But I'm sure, with the way you've handled things in the past, it wont bother you that much. I would suggest that you pause or rewind if you feel like you missed anything. I'm sure everyone here would rather you do that as well. In all honesty, it's kind of ridiculous to 100% blame a fanbase when a reactor decides to drop a series because of toxic comments. If that was the case, then they weren't that invested into the show to begin with.

Also- the thing with Leorio returning even though he's obviously unmatched, I think the reason Leorio returned was that it's not in his personality to abandon people who have a slight possibility of still being alive even after seeing Hisoka massacre them like that. He wants to save people, which is why he wants to be a doctor. If there was even the smallest possibility one of those men could have been treated, Leorio probably wanted to make sure.

It's interesting that a lot of characters are acting based on their own standard. Self-centered both in a good and bad way. There are different layers in their personalities. Very few are completely evil or good, even Gon.

I feel so dumb, haha. Most of the reactors I've seen theorize about Hisoka being an examiner, in my case it didn't even cross my mind the first time I watched HxH. I mean, it's not true, but given the situation up till that episode it made sense to think that.

I didn't theorize about it either, but mostly because if you watch the conversation prior to it it kinda pre-explains the reasoning. He commented on the others acting like unofficial examiners and that if they are, then he would play along as well and act as examiner for them.

I love how everyone at the beginning of HunterXHunter always say Gon is just a sweet boy. Get to the end of the series and u find out that he has one of the most screwed up moral compasses in existence. Beautiful writing for a MC kinda amazing that by the end of the story Gon and Killua’s personalities flip.

Putting this here as a test of sorts, watching these reactions is my first time seeing this series. I wonder if Hisoka is why proctor one said there was only 404 entrants but Gon had 405. But that could still be a twist further down the line tho so who knows
