At first, it seemed like such an alien concept. But over time, it’s really grown on her.

This started out as just wanting to do a quick sort of pinup of a quirky heavier-set girl in cowprint, but it morphed into something of a progression. And over the course of that, it got a little overworked from an art perspective. There are several things I both like & hate about it, but it took a while & mostly, I’m just happy to be able to move on at this point.

As I added the ”before,” I realized there was an opportunity to explore a few other themes with this kind of a transformation I don’t usually get to. Things I’ve kind of found myself enjoying lately, even if they’re a bit hard to pin down. I feel like ”attitude adjustments” can get a bit yikesy fast, especially if coerced. But on some level, there is something about changes taking place on more than just the physical level that I sort of get. Here, I tried to tread a careful line: a mean wiseass, open to the idea of gaining, albeit on her terms, only to find that it actually does make her happy. And that newfound happiness lets her lose some of her edge & cynicism, maturing a little & slowly becoming extra sweet & hell, maybe even a bit more wholesome. A new level of comfort she’s found within herself to just be her. At the same time, if push came to shove, I’m sure she’d still cut a motherfucker if need be too. But keep her well fed & she’s got less reason to. If any of that makes even the slightest bit of sense…

When I was doing the text, I got writing in the voice of the character & I liked her addressing the “reader” as her personal feeder. But at first that line “Sir” seemed a little confining. So I decided it was quick & easy to just do gendered variants accordingly. So pick the one that makes you happiest. And a clean one with no text in case you hate reading. Process timelapse is included, & it’s a long one, covering everything up until the text & tats. If you watch closely, you might see a flash of a sketch of a secret, scrapped third, bigger phase.
