HI EVERYONE.

It has been far, far, far too long. I'm finally back from my road trip and settling into a pseudo-routine. (As much routine as one can have during this CRUNCH TIME of Preptober➡NaNoWriMo.)

Importantly, I feel like I can take a deep breath again.

One of my favorite things about getting older is really learning more about myself. And I know I always need some "decompress time" after trips. But instead of becoming one with my couch, like usual, I actually set up some "easy work" (re-reads, outline and structure notes, rearranging old timelines, etc.) I could do from bed and that helped SO MUCH. I feel more confident now in my stories AND was able to get to my desk sooner than usual! Win-win!

Before we get into the ~what's to come~ I do want to share that the "road trip writing games" y'all voted on were SO MUCH FUN. The video will go live later this afternoon, but I figured I'd share here with y'all first! It really helped me to get up and out of the car, stretch my legs, sneak some writing in, and see some sites I wouldn't have otherwise. Cannot recommend a version of this enough, though I'd maybe decrease what each item "costs" (unless, spoiler, you're going through Casey, Illinois and have a bunch of monuments that can knock 500 words off each bahahah).

If you haven't been on Twitch in a while, I've also streamed a few times over there. My new coffee set-up is ADORABLE (and I can take no credit for that other than picking it out bahaha), though I may be switching it up for the coming weeks! 🎃

What I'm looking forward to this weekend: The Storytellers' Hearth Weekend Relay is back and spookier than ever! Just in time to snag the last weekend of Preptober, too. I'll be hosting Productivity Stream #21 on Sunday at 10:00am CDT, where we'll be raising money for the Office of Letters and Light, which organizes and hosts NaNoWriMo!

What I'm looking forward to reading: The Last Draft by Sandra Scofield!

I've been asking for recommendations on revision guides (versus all the outlining and first draft advice books out there!) and this one was recommended several times. My hold at the library just came in so I'm excited to go pick it up! I'll be sure to let y'all know what I think. :)

What I'm looking forward to writing: MORE PROJECT DEATH. MORE CLOSET FULL OF CAULDRONS. MOOOOORE.

I'll be back with another post soon for our Double Stream Days! (I'm looking at the afternoon on the 30th and morning of the 31st, so we can get some spooky vibes in AND very last minute NaNo prep lolol).

Until then, please let me know how this month of October has gone for you! (And also, like, where has it gone? IT FLEW BY.) Are you feeling confident heading into November? Are you working to wrap up any projects, are you in the tough middle of one WIP, or are you preparing to start anything new? Let me know!

Thanks y'all and happy writing!!

I'm so glad you're back Kate! Now I have another book to get from the library because I am definitely going to need that book. Can't wait for the double stream days!

Welcome back! October hasn't been as productive/successful as I'd like it to have been but that's life. Nano Rebel this year! Going to finish draft two of the novel, that is the goal.
