It's 24-hour (re)write-a-thon time!

That's right, I'm doing it again. Only this time, instead of Zero Drafting, I'll be working for 24 hours straight on my Meridian Maps rewrite!

Basically, I'm hoping this time will be different for 2 reasons: the rewrite and when I'm waking up.

My plan is to start at 3:00am CST on Friday, April 16th and work until 2:59am on Saturday! If I go to bed early the night before, I think this will really help me since the hours I struggled withe the most have been 2ish to 6ish (aka the last few hours and when I'm the most tired). 3am on Saturday means I can still go to bed in darkness and pass TF out bahaha.

The important, Patreon-exclusive live write-ins will be happening at:
4:00am - 6:00am CST (my first stream of the day!)
11:00pm - 1:00am CST (my last stream of the day! Honestly, this one might just go until 2:59am, the finish line, who knows!)

I'll update y'all first one the other livestreams that day, but I'm planning on holding 2 on YouTube and 2 on Twitch as well!

Finally, I need your help! What are some fun snacks or drinks I should try? Can you think of a silly way to celebrate word count milestones? Any other Patreon exclusives you'd want? Let me know if you have any ideas for a way to make this the best 24-hour (re)write-a-thon ever! :)

This will also count as April's writing experiment for the month!

Ill try and join in on all your streams but with the UK time difference it can be hard lol

Azure

I am so with you on this 24 hour write a thon!!

Maybe do cute themed snacks/drinks based on the Meridian Maps? Even something as simple as gummy sharks would be a cute way to celebrate a seafaring adventure, and I'd bet any amount of money there are ocean/pirate-themed cocktails out there :)

kae

May join you! I second the sea themed snacks- gummy string seaweed, goldfish, "coral reef" cheetos, bananas shaped like dolphins, swedish fish, sand dollar cookies (sugar cookies with halved almonds to decorate), finger sandwiches cut into stars... etc!

katecavanaugh

OMG YES. That would be wonderful, THANK YOU! :) I'll have to do a fun prep video where I go on the hunt for as many themed items as I can bahaha.

My go-to is to have boba tea on deck and a celsius energy drink. And if we have to have snacks I'm always down for gummy sour trollies and Reese's cups! lol

Diane Verrochi

Chocolate marshmallow Oreos have become my recent go-to. I do not have the willpower to use them as milestone rewards, but perhaps you do!

Stephanie Faye Lilienthal

Ohhhh maybe have some sushi for food! Or some Swedish fish? Or some gold fish? Maybe have a whirlpool cocktail or a Piña Colada? Bubble Tea is a given, too.

I'm in for 11-1 (or 2:59)! I'm doing cheese and popcorn. Or cheesy popcorn...🤔

I will do my best to make as many streams as I can! I work from home that Friday so my schedule will be entirely my own :) I’m a big fan of stickers in a planner/on a chart as a reward. When I use food I go overboard 😂 although for the late night writing alcohol would not be an out of the question option. 1000 words written? Take a shot. Finished a chapter? Well there’s a whole glass of wine lol

Debra Petersen

I say doing a dance off with yourself for when you hit a milestone!

Zara Hoffman

Nutella snacks (the ones that come with sticks like pocky), merengues, macarons (not to be confused with macaroons), Snapple, Gatorade (helps after the vaccine), Carlin Brothers Coffee (I actually only have tried their black peach tea, they also have hot cocoa)

Zara Hoffman

I also can’t BELIEVE you’re starting at 4am EDT. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it but I’ll try

cheese bread and espresso.....mmmmmm

Kristina Tickle

Brave of you, Kate! I’ll definitely be there for the last one cheering you on!

Sounds like fun! I'll definitely be watching the stream ^^ Fun snacks? Umm maybe Mochi or... I usually have carrot sticks and hummus. As for a drink? maybe ice coffee or whipped coffee? :)

Sarah Cahill

I'm all for pulling a party popper with every 5k words you manage to write!

Belle Lyons

My favorite writing snacks are edamame [protein to keep you going!!!] and I love a lemonade blitz with fruit! the sugar there might ALSO keep you going lolol

Zara Hoffman

I'll be livestreaming at 9am EDT that day if people want to join me for that one, too

I found a recipe yesterday for Singapore Sling Slush that I’m going to make for our next game night. You mix booze with a bunch of fruit juice and keep it in the freezer. When you want a drink, you scoop it into a glass and top with Sprite. For snacks, I would make some energy bites, or balls to have handy. Probably pizza would be convenient as well. Good luck to you!

Good luck! I'll see if I can join the later stream :) I think a great drink would be some of that chai concentrate because it's SO GOOD and can last you allll day. (I recommend the dirty chai versions! So far all that I've tried from Target are great!) There's also voodoo chips that are almost like all-dressed chips that are vinegar-y enough to give a pep to your step.

Regina Duke

I love the plan of fooling yourself with the change in start and stop times. That might actually get you there! The dogs often wake me up early early, but I compensate with naps and early-to-bed. Somehow I think that is not in your plan. LOL Good luck! Still cheering you on!

Alicia

Sea-themed snacks seem so fun! Maybe you can also try different types of drinks every 6 hours?? like stuff u havent made before, even just a different flavor of tea or something

BethIsWriting

What if you write a bunch of random snacks, drinks, stretches on strips of paper and then each milestone you pull one out of a hat?

TheLukeskywalker2

Aren't we supposed to call you an idiot or something now?

TheLukeskywalker2

But it does sound interesting... I'm done with tax season on the 16th, so I'm likely not to be doing much of anything at work. So I might just write with you and make camp a April 16-May 16 sort of thing (or whatever it would be). An in case it wasn't clear, I am only calling you an idiot because you asked me to. Asked us all to really.

TheLukeskywalker2

Is this the third or fourth 24 hour writathon? Is it becoming an annual habit?

Alvin Fraser

I'm going to suggest at least 3 monster, zero sugar (One every 8 hours.)

78kgsofshade

As an exclusive - maybe each hour has a "sponsor", a Patreon who will write with you in solidarity, share their word count at the end of the hour (like via DM), and that could be popped on the screen at hour mile markers.

Elizabeth Falk

YESSSSSSSSSS!!! I love the write-a-thons!

Elizabeth Falk

I'll be working along with you! How exciting. I vote for lots of caffeine AND water drinking.

Sasha Green

YAY! For snacks I think you need to include some Pirates Booty cheesy popcorn. And some RUM! (maybe in the later streams LOL but a must have). Golden Oreo's look like gold coins? Or maybe I just like Oreo's... :)

katecavanaugh

I looked it up and it's the 3rd. And RIGHT, I do think it's becoming an annual thing. 🙃 Maybe I'll finally learn and say never again bahaha.

katecavanaugh

I just want to say how much I LOVE this idea and will absolutely do this exact thing in the future! I'll be changing it slightly for this time but still doing the "sponsor" for the hour concept!! THANK YOU SO MUCH VALKYRIE! :)

Andrea Donoso Sepulveda

Oh, I joined the patreon community just in time for this... I can't wait for that early morning write session (writing session?... thank's god I write in spanish)... that's going to be the only quiet time for me.

Andrea Donoso Sepulveda

I boost of energy with some coffe (no milk) with reese's cups...
