Hey folks, just a heads up-- starting in July, Patreon is starting to implement sales tax on some pledges. This is dependent on where in the country/world you live and not something decided by me (or received by me)!

It seems to be calculated based on what benefits are being received by your pledge, so I've added specific "benefits categories" to each tier (different things are taxed differently and some might not even be taxable at all) to hopefully lessen or eliminate the sales tax completely.

According to Patreon, this is not expected to impact most people (my guess is it's probably aimed more at patrons who are receiving physical merch or other material items), but if the amount you're being charged changes slightly next month, this is why!

Thanks Hake! I think this should mainly be affecting people in the US, but definitely keep an eye out.

Sounds a bit like what we're paying here in the UK, a flat 20% on top of all pledges regardless of the reward.

Oh, interesting, I didn't know that was a thing... according to what I've read, the tax here varies by state and also the type of benefit, although I don't know how they judge whether the benefit is taxable or not. Guess we'll see! I'll be interested to hear from any US patrons whether or not they see a difference in their pledge cost.
