I need to rant about something for a bit, so feel free to not read this if you don't want to hear me ranting.
Is this good? This picture? Do you see how different it is than my usual stuff? I did this following a COMPLETELY different method of construction. It's much more like an actual painting, and what's fun is that i can focus on parts I want to focus on (the face) while completely ignoring parts that I don't (like hands), and I still end up with something that looks cool, but very different.
Here's the thing. THIS ONLY TOOK ME ABOUT 35 MINUTES! My normal comic-book style can take hours and hours, and it'll still look like shit if I don't get every step right. This picture is messed up, but still has an aesthetic to it. Imagine a whole comic-book like this, not my Ladybug comic, but like this, where every panel is its own painting. I can spend a few hours making a big detailed scene, or I can just fuck around in the smaller panels to get a story ponit across. I THINK IT WOULD BE VERY TIME EFFICIENT! But . . . THIS ISN'T MY STYLE AND I DON'T KNOW IF PEOPLE WILL LIKE THIS! I'm not sure that I like it. I really do prefer bright colorful cartoony styles, but honestly, I think I'm floundering with that style a bit. I don't think I've evolved much recently. Maybe I should try a few more pieces like this, and really expand on what styles I can do.
Switching back and forth might be possible . . . It would just be mind-meltingly frustrating. It's easy on my limited bandwidth to focus on one or the other. If I start focusing on this, I might pauce the Ladybug comic to make a short 2 or 3 page comic in THIS style, just to see how it comes across.
