Decided to do another re-draw of an old pic - two years' worth of progress in digital art, from 2020 to 2022! While making the new version and comparing it to the old one, I started noticing all the little mistakes that I'd done with the first one, and immediately remembered the critique I received on it, and how frustrated I was with either not seeing the flaws, or not being able to figure out how to fix them. I'm already noticing flaws in the new one as I'm submitting this, but I think I'll call that a win nonetheless - maybe I'll get them right in 2024!

To see your ‘flaws’, have you tried holding the art in front of the mirror? It’s all a work in progress. But I miss your sweet witticisms. I hope you can do both.

One of the reasons why I find digital art to be so much easier than traditional is definitely the ability to flip the image around back and forth! Holding it up to the mirror does help, but I suppose I should learn to sketch on a separate paper than I intend to draw on, there's only so many times you can erase through the same sheet!

Lovely. The new one definitely has a more realistic feel. For some reason, though, I find I prefer the look and shape of the face of the first one. Regardless, doesn't it feel so satisfying to be able to see how clearly one's own skills have improved with time and practice? Bravo!
