Hi everyone,

Sorry to do placeholder charged posts - I will have these replaced with actual videos within the next few days. This was not my month. I decided to switch to new editing software (Davinci Resolve), so I started off making 2 exclusive videos with it. It went pretty ok. I got to work trying to finish my deck (water bladder, deck boards, etc.), and then found out my mother in law had decided to come over from Italy for two weeks this month. Surprisingly big hit to my ability to get videos done. Deck too - it's still sitting with half the water drainage system exposed, to be done in a hopefully not that snowy October. While she was here, I noticed that a formerly ruined shower wall I'd repaired after fixing some probable water leak points was soft again. So I bought a moisture meter (should have done so years ago, since this house has had numerous water leak issues) and started cutting open walls, looking for a leak source that was hidden before. Found a decent amount of water damage inside the walls behind both showers. Tried a fix, didn't work (moisture still increased), tried another one, didn't work, tried a third one... maybe worked. Not sure yet. Fortunately mother in law flew back home before I had to start filming - but the day we drove her to the airport, the day before filming, I noticed I was sick (cold/flu type sick). Got sicker the next several days which slowed down the filming but didn't stop it. Got it all filmed, started editing the video in... and Resolve started crashing, repeatedly, many times over two days, and eventually bluescreened my PC, somehow so hard that I had to physically disconnect and reconnect my internal C: SSD to reset it because otherwise it wasn't detected as a bootable drive. Since that point, Resolve won't even launch anymore. There's more I could do to try to diagnose the issue, but I ran out of patience and decided that since I have all the video and audio, my best course of action is to just import everything into Premiere and redo all the editing, and give up on Resolve, at least for now. So, I hope you don't mind that the videos are slightly late.

Edit: I only made 2 exclusives. Weird, I thought I made 3.

I hope you're feeling better, Lodge.

Ah the joys of home ownership and relative having. Here's hoping for smoother sailing next week.

That sounds rough, always one thing after another. Hope it winds down and you're able to enjoy the winter. Feel better soon, lejet

I always heard that Resolve was rock solid, but maybe they meant "as solid as a bricked PC." Chris from Explaining Computers swears by it. I hope you can successfully transition to it and avoid the Adobe tax.
