But despite forgetting to run a poll I'm pretty happy with the steam I've picked up again with videos. Rather than run some sort of 24 hour poll and gun straight into work on the next patron topic video, I'm going to take some time to curate the topics for the poll, put it out tomorrow and spend the rest of the week working on the Platformer series since we're close to rounding that off.  Following week will be a Patron Topic.

What will come after the platformer is wrapped up?

I like having a beginner series on the go as it make sure my latest stuff is up to date for beginners and obviously just by bringing different genres to that beginner audience we widen their choice of entry point. So I might investigate something like a turn based game for beginners or possibly another underserved genre or style. There's a lot of demand for RPG stuff still which I find odd given how much good stuff is done in that region by folk like Heartbeast and especially by Friendly Cosmonaut.

Now we're back up to speed I'm going to start mixing the Friday afternoon livestreams back in. I'd put a halt to that (and also to all progress on PokeyPoke, etc) until I'd got the ball rolling properly on videos again. Now we've got that going we can start exploring other stuff again.

It's good to see you thinking about beginners, I would love to see other genres being made by tutorials, like you said, there are a lot of good tutorials on youtube to turn based rpgs, action rpgs, and other stuffs like that. what about a top down game like hotline miami or even like the old gta and gta 2 game, that can be cool and diferent from other Videos that are already on youtube. But, this is just my 5 cents about it, every kind of project you'll make I'll try to follow as usual.

Severed Affect

Heartbeast and cosmonaut have been great assets since i started relearning GML. So glad to hear you bring them up. Just for the sake of having some variance to styles of videos, my first thoughts would either be a racing game, or perhaps a star fox style game if those aren't too far from being adapted to a beginner scope. Although it comes kind of close to the platformer style, a fighting style game with combos might be of interest as well.
