They do all of the flashbacks because it was a lot more necessary as the series was airing; you're only watching the episodes a week apart, but when the show was airing weekly, that fight and shippuden episode 1 were aired 3 years apart 😭

The very first ost you hear in Shippuden = chills. Get ready for a whole bunch of brand new ost's Nick 🔥 Gaara is goated for becoming the Kazekage. W character development. Deidara definitely one of my favorite akatsuki members. I like his "hmm" way better in the dub. 38:01 that's how you say it Akatsuki, you got it right Nick. Akat-skee. You'll also eventually learn the meaning of jinchuriki.

And if I’m being completely honest, Luffy is worse than Ichigo too. Luffy’s character really doesn’t have that much of a development compared to other main characters.

I'd like to say Im a huge fan of both one piece and naruto. I watched Naruto first and didn't think anything can be this good. And then I watched One piece and realized it is possible. Not shitting on Naruto at all because I still don't know which I like better one piece or naruto. Just saying one piece is right there with naruto if not better and you can say the same for naruto being right there with one piece if not better.

Let's go! what makes this show so good is the story and how characters kind of explore philosophical aspects of life (hence talking no jutsu) plus the fighting is strategic (until the very end) and not just DBZ powering up randomly and power of friendship.

yeah ive seen both multiple times and i just like luffy better cuz hes the embodiment of freedom and i love that for a main character. im sure if i looked into it, naruto has more character development or something but just because the author develops a character more doesnt mean they're better or more likeable. luffy been near perfect from the beginning so the only character development hes needed he's already gotten from vivi, his experience at water 7, and some future arcs that i won't spoil here.

I’m 2 months late to this argument but character development is not the only factor for a great character. Naruto is a 12 year old whose story focuses on developing him as he grows up. While, Luffy is an almost fully developed 17 year old kid at the start of one piece. Luffy’s character primarily serves to develop and liberate other people from issues as the story sees fit. The story shows time and time again how luffy is the embodiment of freedom to be spread throughout the world. So, there’s just much more to Luffy’s character than his “lack of character development.” He serves as a developed character that will never change. I’m basically just saying It’s two different focuses on the main characters. Luffy gets some development throughout the series in different ways(like Marineford) but ofc it’s not the same or frequent as Naruto. Because the purpose of Naruto’s show is to convey its main character from the age of 12 and then as he gets older, follow how naruto develops throughout the story as a ninja to be the hokage. While luffy, at the age of 17, strives to be king of the pirates because, to luffy, that is the freest man in the world. Which luffy ALREADY, by the start of the story, strives to live by. So one piece isn’t a show where luffy’s goal calls for him to develop his character but to stay true to his character. Naruto and luffy are both goats in different ways. I’d pick luffy tho lol
