Yeah but if he uploads straight to patreon they would have to download it from kemono which is a pain in the ass. If he puts it on vimeo they can just use the link via kemono

Damn, my net can be unstable so I would mainly download to watch for offline use. Hopefully something that works and doesn't lead to stealing becomes an option.

I hope this method works but honestly at the end of the day, if some dickhead wants to post it for free outside your Patreon then they'll find a way regardless. Do what's easiest for you.

Wym by stealing and watching off patreon? I’ve been using the vimeo download option at times to watch the video when I’m out smoking without having to use my phones hotspot. Is that what you’ve been referring to or more like people sharing the Vimeo link to their friends and shit?

There is no point doing this. Chrome addons can easily fetch videos from patreon since it's using HLS streaming protocol.
