its been SO long since i last watched this, so while i knew what was happening for the most part, it still felt like i was watching it new in a way episodes this incredible have me shaking the whole time watching them out of excitement?i guess? and thats only ever on a first watch, but it happened again for this whole one, even while watching it with your reaction and not fully on my own absolutely amazing, and every single piece of OST used is perfection, when we said Hunter x Hunter could still peak before this, we meant it. like holy christ the only possible complaint i could possibly have is the impact of his first punch when pitou was falling couldve been more explosive i guess? but it literally did not need to be, i love pitou (as a charactrer and for lewding) but goddamn seeing her get absolutely one sided destroyed is still 10/10, and i hate seeing any character i like die, so good

I seriously seriously reccomend doing a reaction to the OST of this episode, theres a video on youtube called "Hunter x Hunter (2011) episode 131 OST Mix" that has most of it all compiled in one video perfectly one after the other ive been listening to it for weeks before getting to this point lol, genuinely cannot reccomend to react to it enough. Its easy to not end up fully focusing on how incredible the music is when youre in the moment in the episode, and its so good it deserves to be listened to on its own too

Chills. Still get chills: the OST makes my heart beat 100 times a minute, the transformation going to black & white ink- like a manga panel come to life, Megumi Han's scream of PITOOOOU! (Like the, "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO EXIST WHILE I STILL STAND" sort of I'm going to kill you), and the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers as Gon bombs himself as well as her in order to end it...... i believe the scene in black and white was an instrumental version of hyouri ittai, which is the ending of the arc you hear at the end of every episode, it fit really well. i dont think it was used before this so thats pretty sick

Just a reminder, that when Pitou said his power was equal to that of the king, she doesn't know about the recent "power up" the king has recieved. So the current Gon is still a decent bit weaker than the current King.

Madhouse went so fucking hard in these episodes. As much as I love the fight between Kurapika and Uvo, after reading the manga I’ve always felt that they missed the mark on getting the tone right with that scene, but they make it up and then some in this one! It always makes me super sad and uncomfortable to watch Gon throw his life away, something that we’ve seen that he has always had the capacity to do in him (the confrontation with Canary and the whole Zoldyk mini arc, the way he used Zetsu with the tops, his fight against the Bomber etc.); but this time you know it’s so much worse. We’re seeing the culmination of all the worst parts of him overtake him and it’s terrifying to see. Plus the OST with the horror violins is just so creepy that you can’t even pretend that this is a triumphant moment like it would be in a traditional shonen. I don’t love the entire Chimera Ant Arc but man I love the end of it! Also reminder, when you get to 135 don’t skip the credits, but watch the whole thing, I swear it’s worth it!

When Pitou said his power is equal to the king she and everyone had no idea what is the full power of the king to begin with and she estimated that before the king has merged with Pouf and Youpi as we know the king is much more powerful than before and some says this is actually the original form of the king that this power is the true origin of the ant king is when he merges with his guards.

Everyone wants to see how Gon would fair against the king but we all know how he earned his power he would only use it against Pitou as his sacrifice and the bargain he made to achieve this power is targeted towards Pitou only just like Kurapika when he's only powerful against Phantom troop as this is the pact he made so does Gon as well as Pitou at the end she made her nen pact before she dies and her will was so strong towards killing Gon her power and nen still activated even after she died which we know after death the Nen is stronger just like Kurapika and why the Phantom troops dont want to kill him so his strong will and hatrd and rage would make his nen pact with their leader even more stronger and irreversable so Nen is generally most powerful when it's targeted toward specific object

one of the best animes but i think they executed the chimera arc a little sloppy as they should of showed the unknown world then the ants as if u really think about it the ants kinda just came out of nowhere in the start of the arc no big explanation. but in the manga they explained it but idk if they gonna animate more of hxh

Pitou "coming back from the dead" was the reason why the Phantom Troupe didn't go after Kurapika. They were afraid of what Kurapika's nen could do to Chrollo after death, especially one fueled by vengeance and hatred.

And if you noticed Killua said " this is the results of years or decades of endless training to be able to achieve that feat" and Pitou also said that he achieved power to be able to defeat me if you also remember when Meruem said to Netero when he praised and acknowledged his power he said Netero's power could only be achieved after decades of training and he tried to estimate how many decades it took for Netero to be at this stage and then he said to Netero that he trained decades to have this power to be able to "defeat me" so even the king said that Netero had the potential after endless training to put up a fight with the king but at the end king only felt the slightest numbs of pain after thousands of punches thats how tough he was but those weren't normal punches anyone would have taken (few) of those punches but the king would've been crushed to death way earlier so in my conclusion that Gon had to pay the price to be able to force his body to achieve this maturity point and decades of training meanwhile Netero had somewhat the same strength without the need to sacrifice his life or power for it, it is very hard to judge power in this arc but Meruem is unimaginably strong far than people realise and his power was shown so far was only pre-death and he was this powerful and almost immortal i can't imagine somone would've survived Zero attack from Netero let alone come back with scratches only. Man this anime is soo deep and so many things could be extrapolated from it Tagashi is a genius a complete masterpiece

Gon has put a restriction on himself to allow him to reach 100% of his possible power, something similar to kurapika restriction to not use the chain on someone other than phantom troops or else he will lose his life. The more power a restriction gives a person, the greater the sacrifice in return

Definitely one of my top favorite moments in anime history. The ost went insane during Gon's transformation. One thing that always stuck out to me was Gon still having some self-control to tell Pitou to follow him outside, you would think he'd be out of control and go ape sh*t on Pitou then but he was half sane cause like he said he didn't wanna destroy the building lmao. This episode is so legendary, I watched this too many times to count 🔥

Luffy putting his hat on nami, zoro and mihawk, the mystery and story, like Nick just loves that combined with him saying it’s the funniest show he’s watched so far. Early one piece was good, it definitely is a lot better later but you acting like it was mid early on. Maybe for you it is, but One piece has great characters and Nick loves them so it’s pretty understandable it’s one of his favs already to me.

Hey Nick, great reaction but I think you missed an important point! Gon didn't do the exact opposite of Bisky. As pitou and killua mentioned, he hat to sacrifice something in exchange for that power. Just like Kurapica did when he put a chain on his heart. He was only able to become this strong through a nen pact. He had to pay a heavy price to obtain this power. This isn't just a powerup like in other anime through sheer rage or determination, it was an exchange, which makes it much more logical and impactful imo.

When I saw this episode the first time I think I hold my breath for the entire episode… it was just the atmosphere and the conflict in Gon. He is such a good person, sees the good in almost everything and this boy loosing it….. pure cinema

Great reaction, this episode just gives you chills. The only downside to the 2011 anime si that they cut Kite from the beginning of the anime he saved Gons life when he was little and taught him about how to protect nature, he really was Gons father figure more than you saw.
