this episode had great music but also one of the few sad scenes in anime with no ost because it didn't need one. Mayumi-sama's (Luffy VA) greatest performance in my opinion

I knew about Ace's death for about 15 years before gwtting to it (took me a long time to start OP). And I still cried like crazy. Ace's last line got to me hard... And Luffy's reaction... I thought I'd be good, but it was too impactful, that whole scene.

Oof. The episode almost all One Piece fan has been spoiled on whether by others' spoiling them or otherwise. Gotta love Jinbe tho. And Marco. They really moved past the grief (temporarily) and shifted objectives so they don't all die.

Saying "this man takes risks" is wild when this arc is the first time he ever took a risk narratively. This is literally the first 2 characters he ever killed off and are still, to this DAY the only 2 major characters to die in the story. It's this masterpiece of a story's biggest flaw. Oda does not take risks very often.

I love One piece but "he takes risks" ??? "No other author would do that" ??? Ridiculous statement. Oda is NOT a risk taker. Exactly the opposite. It's the first time Oda has ever killed off a big character. Almost every other big mangaka has done that. Sorry that statement is just nonsense, this was not a "bold" move.

When Ace and Luffy met at Alabasta, Ace said the Whitebeard tattoo on his back is his pride. That same pride made made him react to Akainu baiting him. But he let Akainu punch a whole through his pride to protect the person more important than it. Makes perfect sense on why he did that.
