Chapter 2431: Extra - Don't Worry About the Details

Before Song Le could finish, Shu Yu had already guessed what had happened.

She figured that someone wanted to see Mengmeng's "masterpiece."

Sure enough, Song Le continued, "The teahouse was relatively quiet at the time, with everyone engaged in low conversations while appreciating poetry and paintings. When that person shouted, all the scholars in the teahouse turned their attention to us."

Mengmeng was never afraid of people. When everyone looked at her, she immediately straightened her chest and raised her head high.

Most people were friendly toward such a small child, especially Mengmeng, who was so open. They asked her questions, and even though she spoke slowly, she answered them seriously.

Everyone's attention was focused on her, and they asked what she had drawn. Some even jokingly asked her to critique the paintings on the tables.

However, just as there were those who liked children, there were others who didn't. Among the crowd, there was a scholar who was quite displeased with Mengmeng. However, since he was educated and they were in front of many people, he didn't openly harass her.

He casually asked questions, which the adults didn't find problematic. However, these kinds of questions could easily upset children if taken seriously.

He asked what Mengmeng had drawn and then held up the writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone on the table, asking if she recognized them.

Unexpectedly, Mengmeng had a father who was a headmaster, uncles who were scholars, and even revered teachers who frequently took her along to play with them. Even though she hadn't been deliberately taught, she had absorbed knowledge by osmosis, so she was quite familiar with these things.

The scholar, seeing that he couldn't make things difficult for her, grew increasingly frustrated. His questions became sharper and more demanding.

Mengmeng, being just a child, started to get anxious after a couple more questions. Her face turned pale as she clung to Ying Xi, and Xia Yan even prepared to step in.

However, before they could intervene, other scholars who liked Mengmeng jumped to her defense and retorted against the troublesome scholar.

But it seemed that the troublesome scholar had some status, and he had companions with him who naturally supported him.

Now, a confrontation had erupted right there.

Mengmeng was bewildered, and Ying Xi quickly carried her out of the encirclement.

Only when the organizer of the poetry gathering came out to mediate did things calm down.

Those scholars who had sided with Mengmeng were afraid that she might have been frightened by the scene and comforted her, saying, "Don't worry about them, Little girl. They are only showing off their abilities by picking on a child. Let's go."

They surrounded Mengmeng and walked out together. After walking a long way, they finally dispersed.

Later, as Ying Xi and the others were returning to the inn, Mengmeng became increasingly angry as she thought about it. She felt that she hadn't performed well, which was why those people thought she was easy to bully.

So, she wanted to take out her proud work, return to the teahouse, and show them what she was capable of.

Song Le finished recounting the process, and Mengmeng found her artwork. She placed the scroll into her little bunny bag, slung it over her shoulder, and prepared to leave.

"Mom, I'm going. Don't worry; this time, I'll definitely make them submit!"

Huohuo, who was standing nearby, vigorously nodded, but halfway through, he realized something was off. "Sister, it should be 'win them over with your heart.'"

"Oh, it's all the same," Mengmeng waved her little hand. "Don't worry about the details."
