Chapter 2366: From Zhengdao Village

Meng Yunzheng lowered his gaze, not expecting to encounter Shu Feng here.

Shu Feng's presence indicated that everyone who had come with him was from Zhengdao Village. The young man who had been injured and brought in by Liu Jie, who appeared extremely nervous, was most likely the person he had seen earlier.

Seeing how disheveled they looked, it was evident that Zhengdao Village had also taken action, but unfortunately, they had escaped. Meng Yunzheng thought to himself.

He pondered this as Rong Hou came out of the room and spoke, "It must have been tough for you, Lord Liu, coming all the way here. I'll have hot water and food prepared and sent to you shortly."

As they reached the door, he led Meng Yunzheng away.

Once they were out of sight and hearing of the group, Rong Hou immediately whispered, "The young man was stabbed in the chest and is seriously injured. He's unconscious now. Lord Liu Jie originally came from Zhengdao Village, but somehow he ended up here. They seem to have encountered some trouble."

Meng Yunzheng nodded thoughtfully. "Do you know the young man?"

"No, I don't," Rong Hou shook his head, "but Lord Liu Jie is very protective of him. I tried to take a look earlier, but he blocked my view."

Meng Yun Zheng fell into silence, and Rong Hou asked in a hushed tone, "What should we do next?"

Meng Yunzheng gave him a meaningful look, and Rong Hou gulped, understanding the implied message.

Rong Hou went to prepare tea and refreshments. In a short while, he personally brought tea to Liu Jie and handed him a cup. Then he carried two more cups to the guards at the entrance.

Liu Jie, holding a cup, furrowed his brows and asked, "Hasn't the doctor arrived yet?"

"I'll go check." Rong Hou left the room and, at the courtyard gate, passed by one of Liu Jie's men.

The man glanced at Rong Hou and then quickly entered the room. His expression appeared tense as he quietly told Liu Jie, "Something doesn't seem right in this mansion."

Liu Jie had just taken a sip of tea but put down his cup upon hearing this. "What happened?"

"When I went to the restroom earlier, the people in this courtyard followed me, as if they were guiding me, but I had a feeling they were monitoring me."

Liu Jie stood up abruptly. "Are you sure?"

"Not certain, but it's better to be cautious," the man said, casting a glance at Liu Jie's teacup.

Liu Jie immediately placed his cup down and told the others in the room, "Don't drink it for now."

However, he was a little late. They had been on the run for several days, and their nerves were stretched to the limit. Finally finding a place to rest with hot tea and food was a rare opportunity. They hadn't eaten yet, but half of the tea had already been consumed.

Seeing this, Liu Jie's expression turned somewhat grim. "We can't afford to take any risks now. You, go outside and send a message to the people waiting outside the mansion. Tell them to take action."

Although they had entered with more than ten people, they had kept some of their forces outside. There were still about half of their group ready to respond to any unforeseen circumstances.

The man immediately acknowledged and said, "I'll go now."

He opened the door, but as soon as he took a step outside, a crossbow bolt hissed through the air, piercing straight into his throat.

He was in the midst of opening the door, and his eyes widened. He couldn't say a word before losing his breath.

Liu Jie was shocked and instinctively shouted, "Quick, close the door."

Shu Feng, who reacted swiftly, rushed into the room and closed the door. The other guard at the door was a step too slow and got trapped outside, forced to surrender.
