Chapter 2347: It's That Young Man

As they walked into the mountains, Meng Yunzheng began to speak in a low voice, "The reason we've come to Zhengdao Village this time is to bring someone with us. This person is my sister-in-law, who was seriously injured when she encountered trouble. You've probably guessed that we're being watched, and we can't keep her with us, so we'd like to ask you and your wife to help take care of her for a while."

Without hesitation, Xu Dalai immediately agreed, "No problem."

"Thank you for your help."

The two of them didn't say much more and quickened their pace as they continued up the mountain.

Meanwhile, Ma Lu had already found some prey and was setting up his bow to shoot.

Time was running out, and Meng Yunzheng wasted no time in hunting down several wild chickens and rabbits. However, that wasn't enough.

They continued deeper into the mountains and eventually managed to bring down a wild boar.

With their haul adding up, they decided to head back down, as it was getting darker.

Ma Lu expressed some regret, saying, "I was hoping to come across a giant beast and maybe get some tiger skin."

Meng Yunzheng couldn't help but twitch his mouth. Ma Lu seemed to have a special fixation on finding giant beast.

Returning to the village with their bounty, they caused quite a stir. Since this was the game that Meng Yunzheng had personally hunted, there was no need to hand it over to the village. Therefore, Steward Yu allowed him to manage it himself.

Meng Yunzheng immediately arranged for the distribution of the game. He decided to give a portion to the Fang family and another portion to the Xu family, with the remainder going to the villagers as an extra treat.

Everyone was thrilled, and they quickly began to divide the meat.

Meng Yunzheng found Steward Yu and got two large baskets, one for the Fang family and one for the Xu family.

The Fang family's basket was filled with meat, while the Xu family's basket contained the petite Wei Qin. They covered her with a cloth and added some pieces of meat and a wild chicken on top.

This was the only way they could transport Wei Qin to the Xu family, as taking the large box openly to their house was not feasible.

By now, it was getting dark, and in about fifteen minutes, the villagers who had been working would return home. They needed to take Wei Qin to the Xu family before that happened.

Meng Yunzheng asked Xia Yan to carry the baskets, and they headed straight for the Xu family.

Ma Lu went directly to the Fang family. "I'll take this basket of game home. I won't go to your house. It's rare for me to come back, so I want to chat with my wife and son."

Xu Dalai invited him to have dinner at their house, but Ma Lu declined. He felt that a proper gathering required some wine, but neither Xu Dalai nor Meng Yunzheng, Zhao Xi, or even young Xu Zhensheng were enthusiastic about drinking. Moreover, Xu Zhensheng was still quite young. So, Ma Lu decided to return home and have a drink with his father-in-law instead.

Xu Dalai had something to discuss with Meng Yunzheng and the others, so he didn't insist. The two men parted ways at the crossroads.

As they approached the Xu family's house, Xu Dalai suddenly stopped and shouted towards a nearby area, "Zhensheng, why are you still playing outside? Come home for dinner."

Xu Zhensheng, who was talking to a young man, heard his father's voice and immediately ran over with excitement. "Sister Shu Yu, Brother-in-law, you're here!"

Xu Dalai waited for him, and the group entered the house together.

After Xu Dalai briefed Meng Yunzheng on the situation, his wife, Lin Shi, immediately prepared the bed and asked Shu Yu and Ying Xi to help Wei Qin lie down.
