Chapter 1921: Choosing Jiang Fengshou

Lu Sanzhu opened his mouth and after a moment, he coldly hummed, "Have you already decided it's him? It seems like you're speaking in his favor. Let me tell you, Ah Yu, this guy is not reliable. Choosing him will lead to trouble."

"Third Uncle, aren't you also good at impressing people? You gave gifts to the Ji family and showed your understanding of the situation. How did the Ji family choose you as the steward back then? According to your logic, they shouldn't have chosen you."

"..." she wondered what was wrong with him.

Lu Sanzhu continued, "I suddenly feel that Jiang Fengshou is indeed good. Look, he's different from the other shopkeepers, very sharp. He can avoid danger in a timely manner, he's patient, and he speaks clearly. Even if you're not at Changjin Prefecture in the future, he will surely be able to take the shop to greater heights. Right?"

Shu Yu almost burst out laughing; her uncle was quite skilled at talking nonsense.

In the following days, Shu Yu interviewed several shopkeepers, most of whom were mediocre.

By evening, all the candidates had been interviewed, so Shu Yu packed up and returned to the inn.

She had a few lists in her hand, not just Jiang Fengshou, but also a few other candidates she wanted to observe further. She scheduled them for a second interview two days later.

She decided not to hold the second interviews in the shops on Fu Yuan Street. Since there were only five candidates in total, Shu Yu told the inn's assistant to bring them directly to the backyard.

Two days later, as Shu Yu was getting ready, one of the inn's assistant came running and said, "There's a guest named Jiang Fengshou waiting in the lobby, and he arrived as soon as we opened. Should I let him in, Miss?"

Shu Yu was surprised, he had come so early?

"Let him in," she replied.

"Alright."

Jiang Fengshou entered, still smiling, holding a small package in his hand.

He walked up to Shu Yu, greeted her first, and then placed the package on the table. He said, "Miss, I arrived early, so I must have interrupted your breakfast. But I bought some pastries on my way here; they're from a renowned old shop of Changjin Prefecture and they're especially delicious. Would you like to try, Miss?"

Shu Yu glanced at the pastry; it was still steaming hot. "Did you just buy these?"

Jiang Fengshou simply smiled.

Shu Yu didn't know about any delicious items from Changjin Prefecture, but the pastries did smell good, with a delightful aroma wafting from them.

"You wait here for a moment," she said, taking the pastries into the inner room. A servant was just bringing her breakfast, and they quietly began eating.

Outside, Jiang Fengshou saw this and couldn't contain his excitement. He clenched his fists tightly and then forcefully restrained himself.

After Shu Yu finished her meal, the other candidates arrived.

Shu Yu asked more detailed questions during the second round of interviews. While the others' answers were acceptable, she was particularly satisfied with Jiang Fengshou's responses.

She nodded and had Ying Xi give each of the candidates a token of appreciation. They left the inn, leaving only Jiang Fengshou.

"You're hired. You'll be the shopkeeper of Lu Ji's store from now on. Congratulations."

Jiang Fengshou was thrilled. "Thank you, Miss. I will do my best."

"I believe you will, but before that, there are some rules I need to make clear."

"Please, Miss," Jiang Fengshou said, his expression serious.

"First, besides you as the shopkeeper, there will be two other assistants in the shop. I know some shop shopkeepers tend to mistreat their assistants, focusing more on internal conflicts than improving sales. This is strongly discouraged here."
