Russian 🇷🇺 AK12 + Iron Sights to 500yds Practical Accuracy

Watch latest videos, sometimes even early releases! Sign up for the newsletter 🗞️ https://tinyurl.com/9HoleReviews or https://tinyurl.com/SlateBlack While the AK12 was first conceived in 2011, the Russian MOD had "assisted" Kalashnikov Concern in making sufficient changes to essentially adapt a modified AK400 as the new AK12 for the next generation standard infantry rifle. Initial "fantasy" reception from small arms media and enthusiast circles were fantastic. Without hands on the weapon system, it appeared to be a capable rifle... until more small arms reviewers got their hands on it. But is it really that bad? We continue to whip this dead horse to find out. This is not dissimilar to what the US went through in the early days of GWOT. Russia just has 20 years of catch up to make due to it’s near complete economic collapse in the Boris Yeltsin years. The problems and subsequent evolution of the AK12 reminds me especially of the problems and subsequent evolution of the Humvee in Iraq. A good base product slowly ruined by the changing demands of the modern battlefield. Eventually this train has to lead Russia into a complete rework of the AK platform much like the new Serbian M19 rifle.

interesting you talked about the HMMWV (Which I agree that by the time it reached the M1114 it was already uber under-powered). I was talking to an officer friend about the M2 brad by the time it reached the A3 how fragile the electronic system was. THAT SAID, I think upgrading the existing AKs74 and AK74 would have been a far superior move here. I'd say that our next parallel to the AK12 is the XM7/M7 project, which will be memed on this channel when it gets to reviewing that rifle.
