ok the Swiss Army Knife on the tactical arm band position is just PERFECT.

Miyaa

I misread her as Evian like the French water maker and wondered if all military/security AIs are secretly named after water brands or kinds. In other words I really feel sorry for Dasani.

lazymagpie

Evanescent Incinerator is such a perfect name for a QC-verse AI... Wait, is she actually an AI?

@Jeph YOU are a robot name generator

Jaysyn

Either that or the line on her neck is mascara to better fit in.

Sam Suchabutt

I think so, she has a seam where her neck meets her torso. It's more visible in the previous comic.

Douglas E. Smith

I am in favor of random surname generation for all subsequent humans and AIs. This is how you get such awesomeness as Nathan Explosion and Genevieve Paperclip-Staple.

Mad Marie

When they do security for politicians, they codename any potential presidential candidate as “POTABLE”

Mad Marie

@Jaysyn: omg…what if there are Botties who are like Furries but for AIs?

Douglas E. Smith

Who's Mavis? I'm not familiar with this reference. Ms. Paperclip-Staple was an NPC in a D&D game of mine decades ago, but she's lived in my head ever since.

I interpreted Evan's panel 2 statement as: My job is to make sure that intoxicated residents don't: a) operate motor vehicles b) talk down a scientist who has decided it's their turn to blow up the planet

Robots names: just one of the many ways that QC keeps the magic of Iain M. Banks alive.

awgiedawgie

A better question, Claire, would be "how many times have you had to do that last one?". Because "how often" is far too inviting for vague answers.

Clifton Royston

You know there are. BUT considering 90% of the AIs are cosplaying as humans, it seems only fair.

Lisa

I'm intrigued at the clear distinction between "automated" work and work that can be performed by an AI. In my world, I'm used to thinking of any work that's performed entirely by a machine to be "automated." But I guess once the machines gain sentience, it makes sense to move that boundary. So "automated" here refers to work done by a non-sentient machine?

Michael Voorhis

Hey Evan! Has anyone done a count of all individual characters that have appeared in QC? i.e, 1. Martin; 2. Pintsize; 3. Steve; 4. Faye; 5. Sara; [.....]

William Burns

Blood sugar for the Blood God!
