***NINE HUNDRED DOLLARYDOOS?!***

Jason Wotzko

Would Sven have considered not sharing the amount with her?

Shawn K. Younkin

This is good character growth for these two!! Now, please; get on with the banging!!

Ting

Disclosing it feels weirder than not

gatherer818

I like that she said it separately, for real and sarcastically.

JD

I thought that the whole point of donating anomalously was to avoid this exact scenario?

Boots McGoot

this is complex to navigate! but also good and important!

Anonymous

I really don't like May's new eyebrows. :(

Anonymous

Aww, she cares about Momo. In her May way.

Sleepy John

I think that pretty well covers all the options.

Scooter

There’s nothing wrong with the bidet, is there?

Daniel Burnett

Yeah he should have kept that to himself

Michael Boettger

I don't think he anticipated seeing her so soon, and May's being so forward about things. Also, she did ask. To be fair.

LH

these two trashfires are perfect for each other, imho.

Anonymous

New body, same old May.

ERRORCODE616

I hope this isn’t some prolonged mess of guilt and obligation. Sven could easily just be like “I wanted to help out a friend. You owe me nothing. And if we fuck again, it’s because we had fun last time and want to have fun again. Nothing more.”

Yonatan Zunger

I think it's in the long term a good thing that he told her, and that he did so right away. Otherwise, it might have been on his mind and messed with him in various ways, or she might have found out later and wondered what was going on in his mind and what his goals were in not telling her... awkward or not, it's good for them to have this discussion. And hopefully they can have it, think it through, and then bang, because that would also likely be really good for them. And kinda hot.

Niskara

I'm sure I'm not the only one who hopes to see just how "Anatomically correct" May is

Jaron Mortimer

Okay, look, this shouldn't be a huge thing. Sven: "Look, I have more money than I know what to do with. Usually, I spend it on dumb shit for myself. I already knew you needed a new body, cause, y'know, the leg. If I did nothing, I would have felt like an asshole for not helping when I easily could have and made life a bit easier for you. If i chipped in a tiny bit, I STILL would have felt like an asshole for making our friends take up a disproportionate amount of the cost. As it is, I still kinda feel like an asshole, because I don't want you to feel like you "owe me' for your new body, but at least you have a new body and I helped make that happen. You're not beholden to me at all, you don't owe me a thing, I just was in the right place at the right time to use my money for something not entirely selfish for once." May: "Not ENTIERLY selfish?" Sven: "I mean, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want you to beat me up with your new tits."

Andrew

So... is she going to offer ‘bang credit’ to everyone who donated?

Yahsho Jinn

Is that "nice guy" behavior?.. "Well I did help you get that fancy new body..."

Jaron Mortimer

It would be nice guy behavior if he lorded that fact over her. This is more like a YouTuber "full disclosuring" at the start of a sponsored video: he want to be transparent, not transactional.

Chuck Dee

He's made progress, but not _that_ much progress. That's master level navigation of the difficulties there.

Daniel S

Of course, there's the other option: he got the money he donated for her new body by writing another godawful song that sold criminally well, and this one was about her. If nothing else, she'd be entitled to a cut of the profits.

Jaron Mortimer

While not really a great precedent to set, May is 100% the type to offer a "SUP BITCHES, I GOT NEW HOLES WHO WANTS TO HELP ME TRY EM OUT!" to all her backers.

Grace Kieser

That's a lot of words for that last panel! Maybe he'll get around to it in the next comic?

Dylan T

These two work well together in a way that would like make a good sitcom but not a real, healthy relationship

Chase the Dragon

A ranch hand who worked hard to give all his money for his A.I. girlfriend to get a body thinking they're ride off into the sunset together? [You could joke and say it was the horse for horse play. Or later make it a sad country song like she divorces him leaving him nothing, not even his saddle. Instead of keeping it happy?]

Wolfger

She offered to bang before she even knew he chipped in, so weirdness should be mitigated by that. And his response of "yeah, but..." shows that he's concerned about how she feels about it, and should be further mitigating. So let's just get to the banging already.

AJ Sharma

i wonder how much is a "lot"

Czarzhan

The amount he donated should have been in the "it doesn't matter" category. If May pressed, he could have said something like, "A good bit. It didn't feel right giving a token amount, since I'm financially well off, but the amount I put in didn't cause me any hardship. And I got to help a friend."

Churchill (formerly TeaBear)

To be fair, he'll probably make it all back writing just one shitty country song.... ;)

MikeT

Eh, rip off the bandaid. It was gonna come out eventually

Anonymous

It's enough monery? Oorps.

Anonymous

I bet this doesn't turn out the way you think it will and I bet it doesn't turn out the way you think it will sarcastically...

Nobilis Reed (personal)

Oh no... this could go badly. And by "go badly" I mean They might not bang --N

OldGoat

Sven gawddamnit! Some things you don't mention and if she asks, you say, "Don't ask unless you're sure you want to know."

Anonymous

Considering that he and his ''8-and-a-half-inch cock of the world" (see 1452) are at least PARTIALLY responsible for a great deal of the structural damage in May's non-actually-equipped-to-handle-genitals-or-fluids old body (see 4096), the least he could do was donate a couple hundred bucks. Especially when you think that he could use ''I put my dick on that robot's hip socket'' as a basis for a great country song in the QC universe. He could deduct it as research expenditures on his next tax return.

xamaryllix

Talk about "bang for your buck"

Evgeniy Semyonov

It looks like it, but at the same time they have the potential to make it work. Real healthy relationship always means working together around some weird hot messes, sometimes overcoming really deep old issues (like May's self-worth and Sven's oblivious douchebaggery).

Evgeniy Semyonov

It's really nice to see people working on their issues together (they are not yet "together", but still they are trying). They both are damaged and have some deep-seated issues, but their trajectories are going towards something more healthy and wholesome. And going towards inner health together with someone can create one of the strongest bonds, that "normal" couples lack. For example, look at Faye and Angus and then at Faye and Bubbles.

Chris Heg

Well, he did contribute to the breakdown of her old body so it's fair. Nothing in her previous behavior would imply that this will bother her for very long.

Michael Boettger

If he didn't disclose, and they banged, and May found out after the fact, she might treat it as " well, was it worth the money?" That would demean Sven's generosity, as well as May demean herself as a commodity. She knows ahead of time, and they can proceed or not as they please. Sven wouldn't be disappointed by this, and it would reaffirm his altruism, which will aid in his quest for self reform. And May would reaffirm her own sense of self-worth, which is something she's struggled with. Good thing this happened in the park. I could imagine Dora and Dale's reaction to this.

Thomas Halpin

I'm glad that's no longer a secret. Secrets are a load of crap most of the time

Hugh Eckert

I think the path from "angry at/insulting each other" to "banging" is pretty clear for them...

Viktor

Would the right move have been to tell her, and not tell her the amount? "I've got a decent nest egg, so I put in enough that I thought it would help." If she presses, tell her then, but "I wasn't cheap but I'm not going to be hurt by giving you that much money" seems like the relevant information.

Anonymous

This premise is...impressively unique to any Human/AI relationship I’ve read. I think having to deal with the awkwardness of it will be good for them both. Eventually.😖

TwoRavens

He needs to tell her how he makes his money. She won't feel nearly as bad if she knows she's benefiting from the poor taste and spending habits of asshole bro-country music fans.

Anonymous

"That's a lotta fuckin' money Clownboy!" - is now forever in my vernacular as a phrase. And I thank you. Unsarcastically.

Anonymous

I want you to know I appreciate your use of reference numbers

Evgeniy Semyonov

At one hand yes, at another it would seem like "You can't handle the truth!" situation. May respects Sven especially for treating her like an adult, not like a cranky teenager (which many of her friends do, even if it is justified).

Bagge

I'm sure they will find a way to sort it. Presumably by fucking

Anonymous

But not hip socket sex

BobC

So, there was a YT creator who was in dire straits, and I kicked in first by shuffling my present commitments, then adding what I could. The response went way beyond what I was expecting or was prepared for. Gratitude is strange. It's that weird place where a gift can morph into an obligation or a debt. Not what's intended, but just what happens. I'm always in gratitude to those who have helped shaped my life. Yet it feels odd when I'm on the other side. Sven did good. Now he must deal with it. May is actually in pretty close to the right place for this. So to speak.

Yahsho Jinn

Or...or... Her new job could be funning around with clown boy, I can see her line of reasoning.. "Well if he has the money to throw around and I have a functional body, why not just charge him for fugg'n? He gets to experience these huge.....tracts of land... And I get money.. Win win! Oh,I also get to flusher Mono! Win win win!!"

Matt Grayson

There are few gifts that match the joy of finding the right gift for someone else. If it's a large gift from the recipient's PoV, then you try to convince them that it's as much (or more) of a pleasure for the giver. It truly is win-win.

Anonymous

that's a lot of clown fuckin' moneyboy

Milo

It is not really clear how much a robot body goes for. On top of that there is the issues with having rich and super rich cast members. Sven is supposedly QUITE well off. Hannelore is RIDICULOUSLY rich. And during the money drive for May's body a donation of 20 dollars was reasonable. Hannelore could buy out the whole Coffe of Doom with pocket change, yes she has chosen NOT to do "take advantage" of the family fortunes, but that is QUITE the rich privilege. Same with this thing with May. There is QUITE a lot of problem with the cross over of hyper rich with "normal" folk or even more the struggling folk. You have on one hand Faye and Bubbles that are CONSTANTLY on the brink of not eating just to keep the place open. And next there you have Hannelore who can decide on a whim to go around the world for x months... It's unaddressed. Does Hannelore REALLY not see that? Does she really NOT think how she can make it better for her friends? The sitcom mechanics works, but it IS really shitty friend behavior...

Anonymous

NEVER tell someone how much a gift cost. For this reason.

Anonymous

Why say anything?

Akashimo Hakubi

This can go either way and can't decide which path would be better to see unfold.

BigKumaDM

I understand what you are saying but id say half of that is about pride. if bubbles and faye were to simply as hanners if she wanted to invest in their business and give her private stock in it i bet hanners would pounce on that.

Derrik Pates

This is gonna turn into angry sex, isn't it. /me gets the popcorn

Anonymous

I thought he originally didn't want her to know he donated at all for basically this reason?

Chris Crowther

Yeah, but to be honest I think honesty is the best policy in the long run for this. If he didn't tell her and she found out later from someone else, she'd probably be pissed about him keeping it from her. Is it going to make things awkward? Sure. But despite both of their failings, they are both mostly decent people and perfectly capable of being grown up about it. Eventually.

Anonymous

Which one is your friend in this scenario, the professor or the student? Also, is the student a dancer or working there in some other capacity?
