....someone needs to tell May, or rather her boss, that the employer is legally obligated to provide uniforms to employees free of charge so long as the employee is making minimum wage. If her employer wants to charge her, then he needs to raise her pay and get her consent to a specific amount to be deducted from her pay for the uniform.

Guessing (based on Union Robotics butt implants from earlier) that it is a multi-tiered set of options. Hard, soft, firm, plastic, wireless charging port, wifi hotspot, spare pocket, detachable, spinning, machine gun, stretchable, glow-in-the-dark, inflatable/deflatable - depends on your model, options, price point, and chassis compatibility. Some of them (I'd imagine) _may_ be a bit like putting a spoiler on a Pinto, but you do you.

I think that most of the more "human standard" looking frames are constructed of ultralight materials. She's probably only a few percentage points over what a human of the same build would be. And she's certainly... well padded.

She did not have a body at the time, which is why she didn't have one to return to after prison and she apparently didn't want to keep being a disembodied AI (probably because she's banned from digital work).
