Mandy Hoskins

Poor Brun. And yet still thinking of others!

Jaron Mortimer

Brun is such a cinnamon roll.

Anonymous

I REALLY like Shitty Dan.

Yonatan Zunger

I love seeing people be attentive to themselves and others. QC makes me really happy.

Shawn K. Younkin

Brun is a great roommate cause she is always prepared.

Mooster

Brun is so awesome!

Michael Boettger

I love Brun. And a softer side to Renee. And I, for one, approve of Dan.

Anonymous

I love Brun, she is my kind of communicator

Anonymous

Neurodivergent representation FTW!

Thomas Halpin

Brun is fantastic. Dan is pretty good, too

Anonymous

Secret feelings are the worst. They muck up everyone's plans

Anonymous

Awh Brun, we love you. Love the neurodivergent representation. Thank you 💕

Anthony Gaglianese

Brun would be an awesome roommate. And you can't argue that the harpoon is certainly a plus.

Miyaa

I’m going to need earplugs.

god shes wonderful

I love Brun! <3

Stating the obvious, Brun is the best

SC

Brun is great but also don’t have loud sex when others are present in the residence and not invited pls

Marc Pengryffyn

Earplugs are an extremely useful adjunct to a good night's sleep. And not just for noisy neighbor sex...

JD

I love everything about this comic. From Shitty Dan sticking around to Brun being an amazing roommate.

red sands

That's a solid punchline

Samantha Yeaman

At this point Dan could become the new main character and I would be perfectly okay with that. I love him.

Populuxe

That’s what stereos are for. They don’t have to be loud. Just loud enough.

Etienne M.J. Dubourg

I find The Hot Guy Formerly Known As Shitty Dan tremendously likeable. Supposing we're gonna see more of him and Renee, I wonder if they're gonna become closer to the main cast or just stay in their little side-story, just connected to Brun.

Populuxe

Once again, I find myself emotionally invested in nonexistent characters who are nothing more than lines and color on paper. And the lines, color and paper don’t even exist. And yet, here I am.

Eric Sieck

It’s nice of you to shout that, since she has earplugs in.

Matt Grayson

And I feel protective towards them. Even Bubbles and Yay. I want Veronica and Jim to be happy. I want to pet Cosmo. I want to know the backstory of EVERY character. Why was that woman looking at her pen so intently when Faye was returning to the shop to discuss her feelings for Bubbles? How is Angus doing in the Big City? What was May like before her attempt at crime? Body? Server room? And Millefeuille.... It never stops...

Clifton Royston

Panel 3 Renee speaks for all of us.

Clifton Royston

Also it is just perfect the way Renee's face changed from Panel 4, when she momentarily fears she's about to get a brush off, to Panel 5. From alarm to her whole face softening, with just a few subtle changes.

Thom Fry

Renee, hun, you deserve this good thing.

Creepy Cat Lady

I am so invested in the happiness of these three pretend people it is absurd.

Joseph Bonnar

I know, right? The ONLY person in this web comic I really don't want to see happy is Corpse Witch. :) Oh, and the raccoon. Raccoons are evil.

SpookyPenguin

i know what she means tho, and im just socialized enough to worry about what i don't know and that drives me crazy, its almost worse than the being clueless in the first place.

Shane Wegner

IMO Renee is indulging her (acceptable) character flaw of jumping to judgment against Clinton based on what little she knows about the situation. OK, Clinton ripped the bandaid off with his usual non-silky (and also slightly drunk) self, but that needed to come off. And who is to say that ripping the bandaid off slow would have felt any better than fast. He wasn't unnecessarily cruel to Brun about it or anything (unlike Elliot, where his clumsy drunk and disappointed self was careless if harshly honest about how Brun feels about either of them) just direct and honest with Brun. His delivery to Elliot was truthful to the point of harshness, but with Brun he was just asking honest questions. My point being, Brun feels like she can't read people, probably due to autism spectrum stuff, and feels frustrated about it, but for Renee to jump to that somehow being Clinton's fault feels a little off somehow. Renee has made herself something of a nanny and caretaker to Brun, but that's not a responsibility everyone owes her, just basic decency. And this might really be a stretch, but layered on the obvious genuine caring as a friend, it might even be a tiny bit...condescending?, to see Brun as a poor helpless lost bird who needs Renee's assistance just to survive basic social interactions. I don't see Clinton as failing Brun for not providing Renee-level mommy-ing to her.

I like Dan.

Shane Wegner

Also "You're doing great everything is fine" is well-intentioned but sort of invalidates or ignores what Brun just said about "Everything doesn't feel fine and here is why, people liking me feels totally secret and undetectable." I'd counter-propose if Renee felt up to it, they could go over a science-like very literal checklist of things Brun could do to investigate if someone likes her/finds her attractive: -They smile more around her -They will walk over in a crowd -Unconscious self-groom/fixing behaviors -Possible social touches on arms and hands -Increased eye contact (autism spectrum more likely to avoid) -Slight closing of ordinary personal space bubbles -Might like, quickly check out her cleavage before ideally catching themselves -Body language mirroring -More likely to laugh at her jokes, I know she likes dog jokes. -Suggesting future events -Maybe even slight blushing? "Things are hopeless" and "things are already fine" are both a little off. Telling Brun she's fine when she doesn't feel it means well but probably is additionally confusing and a bit of a miss on Renee's part here.

Oof, autistic feels. I relate. What if it's okay when you don't understand people? Someone can hardly expect you to act on feelings you had no way of knowing existed. (Well, they can, but it isn't reasonable, so there's no point trying to accommodate that.) And good people make allowances for both the occasional misunderstandings that are part of interacting with anyone, and for their friends' ways of being in the world.

Daryl Sawyer

Yeah, but being able to understand how people feel makes things easier, particularly when they just sort of assume everyone has that basic level of understanding. It's like being deaf in a world where people don't know deafness is a thing, and think you're just not trying hard enough.

Anonymous

I agree. It struck me that Renee didn't properly acknowledge Brun's feelings. Also, thanks for the useful list! ❤

Bagge

They gonna play some maaaaaaaagic

Bagge

apparently Rene doesn't know Clinton very well

Anonymous

It be like that sometimes. Then sometimes she can see right through people like when she first met Clinton. People are tough.

Daniel Rydberg

I can’t see this comic having a “the main character” to be honest ^_^

Shane Wegner

And hey Brun, you were able to read that they totally had sex without either of them actually saying it.

Stephen Wells

I'm waiting for the strip where Millefeuille asks Brun if she'd like to go on a date and Brun says "Give me a minute to imagine us having sex together... oh. OH! Right. Yes please." :)

Anonymous

I had just assumed that Brun told Renee everything, including what Elliot told her about what Clinton did to him. I don’t think Renee would have gotten irked at Clinton just for his interaction with Brun, and I think she didn’t get tipped over the edge until learning everything from Elliot. With the whole story, Renee is very right to say Clinton mucked it all up.

Mark

Millie would then of course blush brightly!

This is my favorite QC strip in a long while, and that's a high bar to clear.
