Hannelore is as adorable as ever 😄

Anonymous

Hannelore continuing to be the most adorable!

orangejuicenut

She could just take a picture of the check with her phone... or eye. Can robots just have browsers installed on themselves?

fluffy

PDFs, physical checks, what's next, communications by telegraph?

Michael Boettger

Kind of a slice-of-life moment here. I wonder how many of the folks here write checks on a regular basis? But Beeps is adorable here. Kind of naif like.

Spoogle McGee

Even after the singularity, when communication and information processing is instantaneous, clearing a cheque will still take 3-5 working days.

Andrea Andrew

I wonder how much money Hannes gave them. I also wonder if Bubbles got May that $20.

Am Queue

I do! Money doesn't seem real to me unless I handle something physically. I get in bad trouble if everything's virtual.

Miyaa

I’m curious what Hannerlore’s handwriting looks like? I wonder if it’s exceptionally well written?

Anonymous

I still have and use checks. A local pizza place still takes them.

Alacrity Fitzhugh

Whip me, beat me, make me write bad checks.

BobC

I remember when Slavs used to write Czechs for Yugos.

Solomon Garland

That's a pretty old reference in the bottom text. Nice.

Sleepy John

It's SO RETRO!

Niskara

I sometimes use check. Not very often, mind you, but enough to be noticeable for a millennial lol

Dean Reilly

This is probably a cultural thing, but it always seems weird to me when a twentysomething character hauls out a chequebook. Not just that they're writing a cheque, but that they carry the chequebook around, as if it were something they anticipate using regularly.

Andrew

Will any banks still have physical branches? Maybe they need to find a sentient ATM.

Wild Card

I still need to write the occasional check. And it wasn't that long ago where if you didn't have the physical cancelled check then you didn't have proof that you paid the bill.

Adam Friedlander

If you own a house in the USA and have to pay a roofer, handy person, etc. it'll often be a choice between cash or check.

Anonymous

here (Canada) I was given the options of cheque, cash or e-transfer for landscaping... had to be e-transfer as I haven't had any blank cheques for 10+ years

darklion

Robots should have eye scanners, she should know this tech

Anyone else suspect Hanners wrote a check large enough to cover the entire cost of May's new body out of guilt for her Dad's well-meaning error?

Michael Boettger

Oh sure they exist. Bruh and Clinton went to one to deposit the cash money from selling the clock.

Anonymous

I had to write a physical check last year. It had been so long since I'd written one, the bank flagged it as fraud. 😂

Valraven

Actually, it occured to me that Hanners, at least back when she was still super germophobic, probably prefers checks. They're far less, like, peripherally dirty than cash, or even atm cards.

Anonymous

I just found my checks today, I cleaned my desk after a few years of letting it pile up

Anonymous

The only checks I've handled recently that couldn't go through an ATM were from Canada. There's only one branch with a drop box that doesn't require a key, which requires signing several forms, so I have to take it there if I don't want to walk into a bank during business hours.

Kherbellos

"Banking is science for money people"? I want that on a shirt XD

awgiedawgie

Beeps loves the analog process, Winslow. Don't try to push her into the digital world, even if she is a digital creature.

Europeans visiting the US be like

Mark P.

My current landlord insisted on paper checks until he realized I'd be bugging him every month to cash the goddamn thing because I wanted accounts settled. We switched to online payments afterwards and it's been a lot more convenient.

Brent

Is it just me or has Beepatrice always had that booty?

Bagge

Hannelore is good people

Chris Crowther

We basically can't even use cheques now in the UK. You have to go out of your way to get a cheque book from my bank and they no-longer do cheque guarantee cards; a lot of places won't accept cheques without one...well a lot of places just won't accept them full stop now.

Evgeniy Semyonov

...is what everyone in the world is saying to Americans anyway. Even in small Siberian towns most payments can be done with a mobile banking app. Checkbooks look like a steampunk era cosplay accessories.

Evgeniy Semyonov

- Nice to Beep you! - Hanner'd to make your acquaintance!

jimbo

I think Beepatrice would like to be as human as possible

jimbo

Beepatrice seems to aspire to human functionality. I see her as the Wizard of Oz companions in search of their missing (inappropriate) parts

Mark

Hanners managed to calm down from Winslow comparing her to her mother, then.

David Howe

She's storing that up until she can discharge it at a safe location. Again.

drone r0m-3

My bank doesn't have physical locations in my area, so if someone gave me a check I'd have to scan it anyway.

Anonymous

I have a feeling that she'll notice the amount next... Hanners writing a check suggests to me that it's serious money. She's not one to be like "Lah de dah I'm rich here I'll just solve your problem with money" but now that there's a formal effort to raise money she's more than happy to participate... we shall see!

Matt Grayson

She could do a matching grant. - pay for half if others make up the other half.

Tim Williams

last time I wrote a check, sometime in the 80s...

Quantum Cat

Wish I could say the same. My former landlord/property-management company refused to even consider electronic payments, insisted on checks every month. And because utilities varied, there was no way to set up an autopay schedule from the bank.

John Pallister

I received a DVLA refund cheque in the post after I scrapped my car and my reaction was "WTFIDK" but it turns out my Lloyds Bank mobile app could scan it and deposit the funds! But yes, never mind cheques, thanks to coronavirus you can't even use cash in the pubs any more.

Rosie Marie

Baking is science for hungry people was an epic apron (still is!)

This comic literally taught me that you can scan a check and deposit it in your account via online banking.
