Can I just say that while Winslow crushing on Roko is cute, relations between adult-presenting robot and comparatively young-presenting robot would be pretty creepy. Not sure why that is. Winslow is probably older than Roko.

There may be feelings between May and Winslow, but if there are, they clearly don’t recognize them, and won’t pursue them in the moment. I’m interested to see where this crush on Roko goes.

Do robots have ages/maturity levels? Because Roko just feels much older to me than Winslow. Like Winslow seems to be the equivalent of a teenager in human years while Roko seems to be the equivalent of a 30 something year old.

I think Winslow is probably the older of the two AIs as he was Hannelores companion for a long time before he got his current body. OTOH Roko has had her full-sized bodies for a much longer time and have much more experience with interacting with the real world. Can it work? Maybe. But I think they are in very different places in their lives right now that I don't think they will be an item.

Just a thought. The iPod had a backlight. Remnants of the backlight code might have been migrated to his new body, and activated with his Roko "encounter". Without any changes to his code, Winslow will have a 10 second glow from here on out.

I don't know - this seems a little weird given that Winslow's reactions seem to be based purely on physical appearance, a physical appearance that Roko still doesn't quite consider to be her own. I'm wary.

Weirdly, Winslow's glow causes everyone else to dither as well! (...maybe that joke only works in UK English?) Made me wonder whether the glow was originally going to be animated? But I noticed the glow dithered where it overlapped Roko in the previous strip too.
