October Discord Chat Recap + New "Pete Raps" Video [Prod. by Mixla] (Patreon)

Yesterday Peter & Lloyd dropped into the Discord server for this months Discord Chat session. [For those unaware, last week the guys filmed a brand new battle that will be released in mid-late November]

Peter confirmed that the filming had gone well. He said "Scru was amazing and Lloyd was hilarious". The editing process has begun and our editor Ross has put together a rough performance cut video already. 

Peter moved on to say he had recorded a second video of him rapping patron lyric submissions for  "John Rambo vs John Wick vs John McClane".  The beat used was produced by Mixla. You can watch that video now - just click the video above or go to: https://vimeo.com/629260267/0ebc02e7aa 

The guys confirmed they were meeting with Zach on Tuesday to go over his John Wick demo. They already have a McClane first verse and will hopefully have a Rambo verse sorted soon. They'll be working on those lyrics for the rest of this month before filming the battle in November.

One issue they have at the moment is working out how they will transition between the three characters. Peter is aiming to have jokes that bring in the next guy, much like "did somebody say birthmarks?" in the old Russians battle. They discussed various lyric ideas with patrons. One particular line they liked was from patron "Regal" who wrote a lyric directed at Rambo - "I don't know what's a more low hanging fruit, that joke or your lip".

Lloyd mentioned they are trying to write the lyrics with a soft rule of not making other movie jokes i.e. not to lean hard on referencing Rocky, Matrix etc. Peter said they were trying this, "because there's so much in these characters, going out to the actors feels too easy and maybe distractingly meta". But the rule will probably end up being broken!

At the moment they are planning to start the battle with all three characters with their weapons drawn - at the peak of tension. But then they rap it out instead and bring out the weapons at the end. But, it is still all undecided.

Lloyd then went on to answer a few random questions...

How was working with Scru? A: Scru was a beast. We got done filming early. We NEVER get done early. He has the very unique combo of skills which are... an ability to rap, ability to be funny and ability to physically repeat movements. It made it super easy to work with him.

What is the necklace Scru is wearing inspired by? A: It's all part of the costume. it works well when it's all together. It was simple but effective. Both Morgan and Britney did a really great job of doing small subtle things really well in this episode.

Is the three John's battle gonna have people getting killed? A: Not sure yet. What do you guys think? There will be gun firing for sure. But we will probably stay focused on the characters rather than at outside people. McClane is definitely gonna do the "gun roll" though.

What's the next battle you're planning to do after the Johns? A: Not 100% sure yet but I would like to follow up on Godzilla vs King Kong. I really like that one. We have a list of about 3-5 that refuse to go away so we'll have to put an order of them together. Off the top of my head... Johnny Cash vs Taylor Swift, Tom Brady vs Maradona, Tim Burton vs Hayao Miyazaki, Lara Croft vs Indiana Jones, and then a few others which escape me right now. [Van Gogh Vs Andy Warhol, Margaret Thatcher vs Otto von Bismarck, Jigsaw vs Willy Wonka] I doubt we will make all of those, like in a row, but I would bet we pick some of those.

Lloyd then concluded the chat by saying he was looking forward to reading more patron lyric submissions for the Wick vs Rambo vs McClane battle; and wished everyone a great week.
